The Dalai Lama of Buryatia is an imperishable body. An imperishable monk in Buryatia - a phenomenon of life after death

This find, made in China in the late 1970s, became known only relatively recently. In the Celestial Empire itself, they practically did not write about it. The details were given in an interview with a Taiwanese newspaper by Professor of the Institute of Ancient Religions Li Guangzhu (Taiwan).

The inaccessible terrain in the province of Sichuan has since ancient times attracted philosophers and religious ascetics seeking solitude for its wild beauty. Now archaeologists come here: the remains of a large monastery of the 3rd-7th centuries AD have been found here.

It is also interesting because it is adjoined by underground catacombs dating back to even more ancient times. Researchers constantly open new corridors and chambers in them, mostly walled up, in which they find human remains and ritual objects. The find in question was made here in 1979.

The flooded mine, which was once a steeply descending corridor, was first examined by scuba divers. Judging by the sediments at the bottom, the water stood here for at least two thousand years. After pumping it out, archaeologists entered the mine. A corridor in a natural cave led into the bowels of a granite mountain. Its narrow, low-ceilinged cells contained human remains and various items. The discovery awaited archaeologists in the farthest chamber, walled up, apparently, back in the era of the first builders of the catacombs - in the 4th century BC.

Since water could not penetrate into it, the researchers expected to find well-preserved things there. The reality surpassed all their expectations. In the cell, two human figures in the half-rotted robes of Taoist monks were found sitting in a lotus position. Opposite them, against the wall, lay a dog. The resemblance to living people was so great that at first they were mistaken for magnificently made sculptures of wax. Struck by the degree of preservation of the bodies.

There were no signs of decay on the soft skin. The ears, nose, eyeballs, covered with eyelids, and hands are completely preserved. It seemed that these people gave up their ghost just a few hours ago!

The archaeologists did not dare to remove the bodies from the cell, fearing to damage them. The operation to take flesh particles for analysis caused a shock among scientists: in those places where the bodies touched the scalpels, blood appeared! As the examination continued, it turned out that the temperature of the monks' bodies was 17 ° C, that is, it was higher than the temperature in the cell itself.

It also turned out that the hearts of the monks were beating. They pulsed at a rate of one beat every few minutes. Blood circulated through the vessels with weak jerks, the lungs pumped air. It turned out that the strange "dead" did not need oxygen, content with the air that was in the chamber, mechanically absorbing it and releasing it back in the same composition.

Thousands of years of sleep

The experts who examined the monks had no doubt that they were alive, but they were in deep lethargy. The dog was in the same condition. It was decided to try to bring her out of hibernation. Oxygen was supplied to it, an artificial respiration device and a heart muscle stimulator were connected.

Resuscitation procedures led to the fact that the dog trembled, its paws stretched convulsively, its eyes opened, and it whined softly. However, after a quarter of an hour, the dog died. Her heart stopped and her body soon showed signs of decomposition.

Apparently, interference in the unusual process of vital activity of the animal's organism turned out to be fatal for it. They decided not to touch the monks until a more detailed study of the situation, including a detailed analysis of the failed resuscitation of the dog. The cell was walled up again. According to Professor Li Guangzhu, the camera has never been opened since. He also said that there was a vessel in front of the monks, at the bottom of which there were dried remnants of some kind of brown liquid.

At first it was mistaken for blood, but analysis showed that it was something else. Traces of this substance were found in the larynx of the monks, its spots were also visible on the dog's face. - Isn't this the "elixir of immortality" that ancient Chinese authors wrote about? - the professor asks. In China, there are several legends about sages who drank a miraculous elixir and fell asleep in the bowels of the mountain. Legends point to different areas and mountains. It is possible that all these legends are echoes of an event that really happened - the imprisonment of monks in a chamber of ancient catacombs, who fell asleep in a lethargic sleep. And the cup that stood in front of them contained the very elixir.

Through meditation into the future, there are, however, scientists who believe that no special "elixirs of immortality" are required to maintain the body's vital functions for hundreds and thousands of years. In the person himself there are forces that can delay death for a long time, you just need to bring them into action.

Buddhist monks believe that these forces are activated by prayer and meditation. One example of such an effect of meditation on a person is the phenomenon of the Hambo Lama of Buddhists of Eastern Siberia Dashi-Dorzho Itigelov. In 1927, at the age of 75, he asked the monks to read him a prayer of goodwill for the departing one and plunged into meditation, during which his heart stopped. In his will, he indicated that he would not die, but would only take a thousand years. In order for people to be convinced that he is alive, the lama ordered to examine him after 75 years.

Buchman (sarcophagus), where he was in the lotus position, was first opened by a group of lamas in 1955. Convinced of the complete safety of the body, the lamas performed the prescribed rituals, changed their clothes on Itigelov and placed them in the bukhman again. In 1973, his body was re-examined. And in 2002 (75 years after Itigelov's death) the bukhman was opened in the presence of doctors and forensic experts. The commission stated that the lama was outwardly recognizable and he retained all the signs of a living body.

“His joints were bent, soft tissues were pressed through, and the samples of skin, hair and nails taken showed that their organic matter was no different from the organic matter of living people,” said Professor G. Ershova, Doctor of Historical Sciences. No special conditions were created for storing the body. Therefore, such a high degree of its preservation puzzled scientists. Buddhists believe that Itigelov is still meditating and is on the path to enlightenment.

This is far from the only example. For over 300 years, the former abbot of this temple, Wu Khak Min, has been sitting in the lotus position in the courtyard of the Dau temple near Hanoi. Towards the end of his days, he stopped eating and retired to a small brick chapel.

Before plunging into the last meditation, he asked the monks to bury him only if they could smell decay. “If there is no corruption, then know that I am alive and offer prayers to Buddha,” he said.

In the 1990s, this old story caught the attention of Vietnamese scholars. An X-ray examination of the "statue" in the chapel on the outskirts of the temple showed that it was indeed a human body. Moreover, it was not embalmed, and this makes it doubly surprising for its such good preservation in a tropical climate, when monsoon rains pour for months and the humidity is kept at 100% for a long time.

In the same temple is the fully preserved body of another abbot, the successor of Wu Khak Min. Comparing these cases with the find in Sichuan, one would assume that the Chinese monks also plunged into their strange lethargic sleep under the influence of prayers and meditation, if not for one "but". There was a dog in the cell, immersed in the same dream! It turns out that not only meditation had an effect on the body of the "sleeping". Obviously, some kind of completely material means was also used - perhaps the very "elixir of immortality" that mankind has been looking for for more than one thousand years.

A miracle happened in Buryatia - in the Ivolginsky Datsan, cameras recorded the movement of the body of Khambo - Lama Itigelov, who died in 1927. Is this really possible and why are people willing to believe in imperishable relics?

A frame taken by a CCTV camera at the residence of Khambo Lama Etigelov

Director of the Mesoamerican Center. Yu.V. Knorozova Russian State University for the Humanities, Professor Galina Ershova She told Novye Izvestia in detail about the phenomenon of the body of a Buryat lama, about what the researchers saw during the exhumation. And not only about that ...

Why do people worship imperishable relics, believe in their miraculousness, even if they have never seen them and have no idea where they came from?

This phenomenon, by the way, is well understood for Russian culture, where the worship of "incorruptible relics" as a guarantee of the expected revival acquired special significance back in the period of Kievan Rus. The emergence of the cult of imperishable relics was formed, perhaps, due to the special climatic regimes of the caves-catacombs in combination with the specific diet of the inhabitants of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra.

As Archpriest Alexander Men commented, the word "relics" means "the body of the deceased."

Alexander Men

The relics of the saints can be in varying degrees of preservation. The remains of the devotees of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra are incorruptible (naturally mummified), and in 1903, only bone remains were found in the tomb of Seraphim of Sarov. However, the popular belief in "absolute incorruptibility" subsequently led many to disappointment in the belief - when it turned out that most of the relics were just bone remains. However, in justification of this popular belief, I would like to note that the facts of complete incorruptibility - like the incident that happened in Buryatia nowadays - are so rare, short-lived and incredible for everyday consciousness that a paradoxical situation arises: people keep the memory of a real event as an almost myth. the preservation of the body, which really naturally turns into a complete mummy over time. But those who have not observed this unique state themselves are simply unable to believe in it.

- Is it true that the body of a Buddhist lama was exhumed at his own request?

Yes. All this came true only because Itigelov himself ordered before "leaving" to get his body 75 years later. And on September 10, 2002, an exhumation took place on the territory of a cemetery near Ulan-Ude - at the initiative of the head of the Buddhist Church of Russia Khambo Lama Ayushev, as well as with the permission of relatives, in the presence of official authorities and forensic experts.

In a box raised from the ground, an elderly man covered with silk fabrics was sitting in a lotus position. At the same time, his body was completely intact - with soft muscles and elastic skin, bending joints. Information about the Buryat lama, who was extracted from his grave, got into the media. The public perceived this news in different ways: some people simply did not believe it, deciding that it was a "journalistic joke" or "Buryat falsification", others thought it was an ordinary mummy. Therefore, many publications were written in a mock style.

- And what indicates the reality of the phenomenon of the Buryat "miracle"?

The mere fact that the body after exhumation was completely intact, and there were no signs of mummification or embalming. Hair and nails are preserved. When pressing on the skin-muscle integument, the grooves restore their normal state. There are no cadaveric spots, skin without signs of decomposition and the presence of fungi. Any aromatic, resinous or putrid odors from the contents of the box and from the body were not detected. After removal, the body retained its position without special devices.

The skin on the lower leg and hand was slightly damaged when undressing. In the opened wound in the photograph published in Geo magazine, red, non-clotted blood is clearly visible. And the witnesses claimed that the blood had a jelly-like appearance.

The unusual condition of the body was such that the forensic doctor who was on the exhumation 3.M. Mandarkhanov refused to inspect the body on his own and demanded the creation of a special commission.

- Well, isn't it a miracle?

I was fortunate enough to participate in the study of biological samples. We were allowed to take samples of the exfoliated epidermis from the feet, two slices of the nail edge, and hair. So the results showed that Itigelov purposefully, but did not constantly use bromine (bromine-containing plants), which led to an excess content of this element in the skin. In large doses, bromides inhibit excitation processes in the central nervous system, including the spinal cord, but have almost no effect on the centers of the medulla oblongata, which controls oxygen respiration, blood circulation, and partly the somatic nervous system.

We assumed that Itigelov reached his state by turning off the vital energy exchange functions of the body and entering deep meditation. In this way, he was able to simulate anabiosis-like state - a temporary cessation of life. In itself, this phenomenon in wildlife is not new.

Since the 19th century, it has been discovered that after a state of "waiting" microscopic rotifer worms, fish and newts, and frogs, and warm-blooded - hamsters and mice can return to life. Even hypothermic monkeys were revived when they no longer breathed and their heart did not beat. There are many known cases in different countries when even frozen people returned from such a state. Folk Russian clinics contained entire sections devoted to the revival of the frozen alive. Long-term refrigerated storage of viable sperm and other living components is no longer a "miracle".

- And what happened to the body after being removed from the grave? Has it changed?

The fact of the matter is that the changes were visible after two years. Itigelov was placed in the sacred part (on top of the altar) of the main church of the Ivolginsky monastery. After a while, certain changes began to be observed. First, moisture was initially released from the mouth. A few months later, there was a rather noticeable release of moisture that settled on the walls of the glass cube in which the body was initially stored. A little later, salt began to actively stand out on the skin - on the face and the rest of the body. The skin color began to darken gradually.

Re-examination (organized by me within the framework of the project) in the presence of Dr. med. V.N. Zvyagina, head. Department of Personal Identification of Forensic Medical Examination (Moscow) and Ph.D. K.M. Yugov, who examined the body during exhumation (Ulan-Ude), was carried out in November 2004. In general, the tissues became more elastic, the characteristic depressions did not form when pressed, although the muscle tissues still retained elasticity. Joint mobility was already absent. All over the body there were salt deposits, from which the skin burst in some areas. On contact, a rather pleasant smell was felt. The line of the mouth, like the eye, no longer differs. Subjective assessment YES. Gorina, body weight in comparison with the moment of exhumation decreased by about 15 kg. The official "Protocol of examination of the body of Khambo Lama Dasha-Dorzhi Itigelov" was drawn up, where it was noted that in the two years that have passed since the initial forensic medical examination of the body of Khambo Lama Itigelov (09/11/2002), the first minor signs of mummification appeared, expressed in parchment density skin, in the loss of their elasticity, in the absence of movements in the joints (this was noted in the Protocol).

- Is it known about such practices in the world? Or Itigelov was the first in this?

Of course not. There are many cases of accidental preservation of the bodies of the deceased in the world, for example, in Italy. In some traditions, there were even special practices, including breathing regulation, a special diet, cleansing procedures, and medication support. These methods were specially developed in the Hindu-Buddhist space. There are known cases in Vietnam, Japan, India. Itigelov clearly followed these traditions. It is known that he wrote commentaries on "Dymbryl Dodvo" (comprehension of the Void) - the teachings of the founder of Tibetan Buddhism Bogdo tsonghavy, who also tried to save his body, but on the seventh day showed signs of decomposition.

In Buddhism, despite various attempts, such practices have not become commonplace, which is associated with the difficulty of implementation and the lack of canonical justifications within the framework of religious doctrine. Nevertheless, Lama Itigelov, preparing for death, managed to master the mysteries of the "incorruptible body".

On September 11, 2002, an autopsy of the sarcophagus with the ashes of Dasha-Dorzho Itigelov took place in the Ivolginsky Datsan
(1852-1927).

Even among very advanced Buddhist practitioners, achieving an incorruptible body is the rarest case, according to representatives of the Buddhist traditional Sangha of Russia. Only great Teachers, leaving life, can enter the state of meditation-samadhi and purify their body so that after death it is preserved. This is because the process of death - the extinction of the vital functions of the body - is under conscious control. But not every body can remain incorrupt, says the oldest Buryat Gelek-Balbar Lama. One can only assume that Khambo Lama Dashi-Dorzho Itigelov was a practitioner of the greatest level who reached direct comprehension of Emptiness - the Great reality of all phenomena. "From early childhood, I heard from old people and relatives about Khambo Lama Itigelov," says Unzad Lama, the leader of prayer readings, Bimba Dorzhiev, who has been serving in the Ivolginsky Datsan since 1988 (he comes from Khuramsha, a village located near the former Yangazhinsky Datsan where Itigelov served - Auth.) - I remember the story of how the parishioners of the Tsongolsky Datsan turned to Khambo Lama Itigelov with a request to determine a new place for the construction of the datsan, since the former was flooded with water during floods.

Itigelov indicated the place, saying that the bell and the vajra of the first Khambo Lama Damba Dorzhi Zayayev were buried there. And there they really found these objects and subsequently built a new dugan of the Khilgantui (Tsongolsky) datsan. Believers mistook Itigelov for the reincarnated Khambo Lama Zayayev. "In fact, in 1955, a group of lamas led by Khambo Lama Lubsan-Nima Darmaev opened the sarcophagus with the body, put it in order and returned it to the boomkhan. Most likely, this was done secretly from the authorities, and, of course, in those years there could be no question of returning the body to the datsan. check the condition of his body, - continues Lama Bimba Dorzhiev. “Even in a dream, I saw how we open the sarcophagus, and I became even more firmly established in the belief that if we make the incorruptible body of Khambo Lama Itigelov an object of veneration for believers, it will become the greatest blessing.”

Dorzhiev found a person who knew about the place of the Teacher's burial - the grandfather of Amgalan Dabaev, born in 1914. He saw Itigelov during his lifetime, and his father-in-law participated in the opening of the sarcophagus in 1955. Bimba Lama and a group of believers turned to Pandito Khambo Lama Damba Ayusheev with a request to organize excavations. And on September 10, with a group of lamas and relatives Khambo, Lama Ayusheev left for the burial site. With the help of Amgalan's grandfather, the exact burial site was determined. “Our rational mind says that it is impossible to preserve a deceased body in a more or less good condition. Still, 75 years have passed since the departure of the Khambo Lama,” says Damba Ayusheev. “I asked everyone to move away from the sarcophagus at the most crucial moment. expert E. Mandarkhanov, and when after some time he confirmed that the body was intact, I felt great relief and joy. But at the same time I felt the burden of responsibility for the further fate of this precious body for us. "

On the evening of September 10, with a large crowd of believers, the sarcophagus was greeted in the datsan with the honors of the highest Buddhist hierarch. Under the recitation of prayers and the sounds of ritual instruments, he was placed in Divazhin-dugan, where the model of paradise - the pure land of Buddha Amitabha, as well as the mandalas of the highest deities is located. Excitement, doubts, a sense of involvement in a historical event - these emotions were experienced by each of those present at the opening of the sarcophagus. Experts I.A. Vologdin and D.A. Gorin compare the lifetime photograph of Hambo Lama D.-D. Itigelova with an exhumed body, dressed in a yellow tarlig, and say with confidence: "This is it."

From dawn to night in Divazhin-dugan lamas and huvaraki daily read a special prayer - "Dambrel dodbo" - "Praise to interdependent origin" - the root text on the emptiness of all phenomena. The Central Spiritual Directorate of the Sangha of Russia decided to build a special sarcophagus from a double-glazed window, to create all conditions for the further preservation of the precious relic. One of the main initiators of the opening of the burial place of Hambo Lama D.-D. Itigelova unzad lama of the Ivolginsky datsan Bimba Dorzhiev. Worshiping the body of a yogi can bring great benefit to all believers, the respected Galek-Balbar Lama believes. Since the time of the disciples of Tszonghava, the founder of the Gelukpa school (15th century), there have been attempts to preserve the Teacher's body, but not all have been successful. But the Buddhists of Buryatia are incredibly lucky, they can witness a miracle with their own eyes. After 75 years, the Great Teacher was able to reveal his incorruptible body to the eyes of his followers, in order to remind us of our frailty, impermanence and death, and the great power of the Buddha's Teachings.

"THEY WON'T HAPPEN TO TAKE ME"

Biography facts of the twelfth Pandito Khambo Lama Dashi-Dorzho Itigelov Left an early orphan, Dashi-Dorzho Itigelov was brought up by the wealthy Nadmit Batuyev at that time in the Orongoi area - now the Ivolginsky district. Having reached the age of 16, he went to study at the Aninsky datsan of the Khorinsky steppe Duma. In those years, this datsan was one of the most famous for the level of education of its lamas-clergy. There he spent about 20 years studying Sanskrit, Tibetan language, logic, philosophy. Dashi-Dorzho Itigelov improved his knowledge of Buddhist sciences in the Tsugolsky and Aginsky datsans, and also served in the Tamchinsky datsan - the residence of the Khambo Lama. Most likely, in one of them he defended the title of gabji lama, which corresponds to the title of candidate of philosophical sciences. Returning to the Yangazhinsky datsan in the Orongoi area, he became a full-time Buddhist philosopher, it was very difficult and at the same time honorable to take this place, because the full-time lamas were actually supported by the state.

In 1904, Itigelov was appointed shirete-lama of the Yangazhinsky datsan. On March 24, 1911, he was nominated among ten candidates for the post of Pandito Khambo Lama - the head of the Buddhists of Eastern Siberia. By a diploma dated April 11, 1911, the Irkutsk governor was approved as the Supreme Head of all Buddhist datsans. According to legend, at the time of his enthronement, Khambo Lama D.-D. Itigelov, before sitting on the Khamba throne, took out the seventh from the olbok pillows and, placing it on top of all the others, sat down on the throne. It was the olbok of Pandito Khambo Lama Yeshizhamsuev Danzat-Gevan. Before his reign, among the Buddhists of Eastern Siberia, there was a long-standing dispute about the supremacy between the Khilgantuysky and Tamchinsky datsans. Itigelov's act was regarded as a sign that he had come to put an end to long-standing strife.

Subsequently, Hambo Lama D.-D. Itigelov was looking for the burial place of the first Pandito Khambo Lama Damba-Dorzhi Zayayev and even, according to some sources, was recognized as his reincarnated by the believers of the Khilgantuy (Tsongolsky) datsan. While at the post of the Hambo Lama, D.-D. Itigelov made great efforts for educational activities, especially in the publication of religious and secular literature for the laity. For his work, he was repeatedly awarded medals from the Russian government and the governor of Eastern Siberia.

In 1913, Pandito Khambo Lama participated, by special invitation, in the celebration of the 300th anniversary of the House of Romanov and in the consecration of a Buddhist temple in the capital of the Russian Empire, St. Petersburg. The initiator of the construction of this temple - the famous Buddhist figure Aghvan Dorzhiev was the closest associate and comrade-in-arms of Khambo Lama D-D. Itigelova. A solemn prayer service for the health and well-being of the House of Romanovs was held at the St. Petersburg Datsan. After D.-D. Itigelov and A. Dorzhiev were photographed for memory. In the photo they are standing next to them, together with them are the famous orientalist P.K. Kozlov and his wife, later famous Buryat scientists Ts.Zhamtsarano, E.-D. Rinchino, Mongolian prince Khanda-Dorzhi, Kalmyk prince Tundupov. It is also known that Khambo Lama Itigelov took part in the work of the II General Buryat Congress, which was held in the Gusinoozersky Datsan in July 1917. At the suggestion of Itigelov, the congress considered a new "Statute on the Lamaist clergy of Eastern Siberia."

After retiring in 1917 due to illness from the post of the Hambo Lama, D.-D. Itigelov made a lot of efforts to preserve and prevent the pogroms of datsans in the critical years of the history of our country. Hambo Lama died in 1927. As a real Buddhist practitioner, before his death, he gave the last instructions to his disciples and asked them to start reciting "huga Namshi" for him, a special prayer - good wishes for the deceased. The disciples did not dare to pronounce it in the presence of the living Master. Then Hambo Lama began to recite this prayer himself, which his disciples gradually picked up. Reading goodwill and being in a state of meditation on the Clear Light of Mind, he passed away from this life. Before that, he bequeathed to his disciples: "You will visit and see my body in 30 years."

In the lotus position, in which Khambo Lama was during meditation, the body was placed in a sarcophagus and buried in a bumkhan - a mausoleum in the area of Huhe-Zurkhen, where famous lamas were buried. One of them, who was in the same cell with Agvan Dorzhiev during his arrest in 1938, recalled that back in 1921 Itigelov warned Dorzhiev, who at that moment returned from Mongolia: “You shouldn't have returned here. It would have been better if you stayed abroad. The arrests of the lamas will begin soon. If you fall into their hands, they will not leave you alive. " Aghvan Dorzhiev asked in response: "Why don't you go abroad?" To which Itigelov replied: "They will not have time to take me."

MOSCOW, December 01, 2003 - The sensational results of studies of the imperishable body of a Buddhist lama were published on Wednesday in Moscow. "Samples taken 75 years after the burial showed that the organic matter of the skin, hair and nails of this deceased person is no different from the organic matter of the living," said Galina Ershova, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor of the Russian State Humanitarian University.

This is the body of a famous religious figure named Dasha-Dorzho Itigelov, who was the head of Russian Buddhists from 1911 to 1927. Before his death, he bequeathed to get his body out of the ground after about 30 years. Since then, the exhumation has been carried out twice: in 1955 and 1973, and both times it turned out that the body of the Hambo Lama had not undergone decay. The same thing was discovered for the third time, in 2002, after which the doctors decided to examine the body of Itigelov. "His joints are bent, soft tissues are squeezed like a living person, and after opening the box in which the lama rested for 75 years, a fragrance began to emanate from there," said Ershova.

According to her, "this completely contradicts the idea of what should be with a person after 75 years of burial." Ershova also noted that there has not been a single similar fact, not only in the history of Buddhism, but in the history of mankind in general. The body of the deceased lama has been the object of worship of Buddhists of Buryatia for two years now. It is located in the Ivolginsky temple of Ulan-Ude, the main Buddhist temple in Russia. An excerpt from an interview with the current head of the Buddhist traditional sangha (community) of Russia, Damba Ayusheev, was also shown, who noted that this phenomenon "gave believing Buddhists even more faith, removed doubts from doubters, and made atheists think." Interfax reports.

RETURNED AS I DID
("TVNZ")

For the first time his grandniece Yanzhima Vasilyeva tells about the miracles around the Buryat saint.

This is how he passed away 78 years ago.

Already two and a half years have passed since the body of the former head of the Buddhists of Russia Khambo Lama Itigelov, who died 78 years ago, was unearthed at the cemetery near Ulan-Ude (KP wrote about this on October 19, 2002, December 2 and 4, 2004) ... Then, in September 2002, the medical examiners present at the exhumation were shocked. Itigelov had all the signs of a living body: soft skin without any signs of decay, his nose, ears, closed eyes remained in place (the eyeballs were in place, did not leak out), fingers and elbow joints were mobile. The body was fragrant. There is no unpleasant smell to this day. The lama did not lie like a mummy, but sat in a cedar box in the lotus position.

Itigelov died unusually, - tells about his unique ancestor Yanzhima Dabaevna. - After in 1917 he resigned as the head of the Buddhists of Russia, he perfected his spirit for ten years. And on June 15, 1927, he gathered his disciples, sat in the lotus position and asked them to read the Buddhist prayer "Good wishes to the departing one", which is usually addressed to the deceased. The disciples were surprised: "Why should we read this prayer to you alive?" Then he read it himself and stopped breathing. This amazed even the monks, who were initiated into the secrets of meditation. “Before leaving, Itigelov said: Come to me in 30 years. Look at my body. And in 75 years I will return to you. ”The monks dug up the llama in 1957. And, seeing that the body did not decompose, they buried again. If it decomposed, then according to Buddhist laws, the body would certainly be burned.

In September 2002, the lama did return. Now he sits under a glass bell in the Ivolginsky datsan (monastery). And it still hasn't rotted - at normal room temperature.

All Buddhists believe that God has returned, - says Yanzhima Dabaevna. - For us, it is a shrine. You cannot behave with him as with an ordinary person. And they still tell me: what right did you have to admit scientists to the body ?!

HIS BRAIN PULSES

Yanzhima Dabaevna is not only a relative of the great saint, but also the director of the Institute of Pandito Khambo Lama Itigelov, created in 2002, whose goal is to preserve the legacy of the "resurrected god". And as a leader, she considered it correct to scientifically record the phenomenon, but without opening the body. They collected the hair that fell from the head of the llama, peeled skin and cut off four milligrams of a toenail. These samples allowed Viktor Zvyagin, Head of the Personality Identification Department of the Russian Center for Forensic Medicine of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, and Galina Ershova, Professor of the Russian Humanitarian State University, to examine them. The results obtained stunned the experts themselves: spectral analysis did not reveal anything in the organic tissues of the body that would distinguish them from the tissues of a living person!

He is the same as you and me, only his eyes are closed, - Itigelov's grand-niece convinces me.

Professor Ershova, for example, having touched his hands, felt their warmth. And the monk accompanying Ershova took off the cap from Itigelov's head in front of her, wiped the sweat from his forehead (!) And wiped it on Ershova's hand with the words: "The Teacher was sweating ..." The woman was shocked. There are even witnesses who claim that the lama opened his eyes.

The internal organs seem to be intact, experts say. But the blood from liquid became jelly-like. But it is, which should not be in a person who died 78 years ago. And the very famous chiropractor Alexey Azheev, who has been observing the body since 2002, even felt the pulsation of the brain in his own special way. In his opinion, the living cerebral hemispheres give out 3 - 4 "bursts" per minute, and the motionless Itigelov - 1 per minute.

A unique phenomenon that has no analogues in the world, of course, does not give rest to scientists, - Yanzhima Dabaevna laments. - And after they had already established that his cells were alive, they decided to investigate the body even deeper: to illuminate with an X-ray and do a tomography. Itigelov, on the other hand, did not give orders in his will to examine his body when he left. And we Buddhists obey the word of the Teacher. Therefore, on January 3, 2005, all experiments in the "Itigelov case" were officially closed.

- But why don't you allow studies to be carried out that might just confirm a miracle?

Itigelov is not an exhibit for experiments. And we do not need to prove anything: we know that he is alive.

STETHOSCOPE NOT APPLIED TO BREAST

- Does the llama's skin turn black over time?

No. Sometimes it just gets hard. On November 4 last year, Professor Ershova and I touched his face - it was very soft and smooth. And after a while it hardened. Doctor Aleksey Azheev explains this by the processes taking place inside any living organism. There is such a term “hands of a washerwoman”. When the hands are constantly in the water, then they should swell, and they shrink. This body balances so as not to release moisture from itself. Itigelov has the same effect: his weight either increases or decreases.

- Are you weighing it yet?

Yes. He weighs an average of 41 kg, but periodically loses or gains one kilogram in weight.

- Does your heart work?

I will not say. The stethoscope was not applied to the chest.

We still do not know who and when poured salt into the cedar box with the lama. Not the fact - that this was done from the day of burial. In addition, the salt damaged his skin in places - it dried it out.

THE MAN WHO REACHED ENLIGHTENMENT

- Yanzhima Dabaevna, how do you yourself explain the incorruptibility of your relative's body?

He was able to achieve the state that the famous Buddhist monk Bogdo Zonhava wrote about in his essay "Praise of Interdependent Origins" in the 15th century. And Itigelov wrote a commentary on this book - about how to practically achieve this extraordinary state, which in our terminology is called "emptiness". And acquire supernatural powers.

- What kind of paranormal abilities did the lama have?

For example, according to the surviving official police report, Itigelov once rode on a horse along the surface of White Lake (now called Sulfatnoye), as if along a paved road. He could move instantly: as soon as the door was closed behind him, he immediately found himself a kilometer away from it, turning into a point.

- And how did he achieve this very "emptiness"?

I asked this question to the current head of Buddhists, Khambo Lama Ayusheev. He replied: "If I knew how to do this, then I would not be in this world of suffering."

REINCARNATION?

Famous actor Richard Gere (center) with Lama Itigelov's grand-niece Yanzhima Vasilyeva and Lama Buda, who was present at the exhumation of the incorruptible body.

But there is another mystery as well. Buddhists believe that the second coming of Itigelov is due to the fact that he underwent reincarnation - the transmigration of souls. They say that the soul of the first head of the Buddhist Church, Pandito Khambo Lama Zayayev, the founder of Buddhism in Russia, entered Itigelov.

We are convinced of this by interesting figures, - continues the story of Yanzhima. - Zayayev was born in 1702. He lived exactly 75 years and died in 1777. But, leaving this life, he said to his disciples: I will return to you. And in 1852, exactly (!) 75 years later, Khambo Lama Itigelov was born. He also lives for 75 years and leaves us with the words "I will return to you in 75 years." As a result, this mystical number is repeated four times - 75 years.

- Your ancestor studied pharmacology and Tibetan medicine for more than twenty years. Maybe he invented the elixir of immortality?

If it were that simple, then many lamas would be able to use this recipe.

- How do you feel when you walk by your ancestor?

As if you are entering a dark room and suddenly feel that there is someone there - warm, lively, feeling.

Seven times a year, on major Buddhist holidays, huge queues line up to Itigelov. These are the days for 2005: April 24, May 23, July 10, September 27, October 24, November 26 and January 29, 2006. The incorruptible body has already been visited by over 70 thousand believers. Some even feel his touch during worship.

We are amazed by the fact, - explains Vasilyeva, - that, leaving his will, Itigelov knew that in tens of years his body would remain incorrupt.

WORSHIP THE "IMMEDIATE BODY"
("Vesti-Buryatiya")

In 2005 there will be only 7 days when believers can bow to the "incorruptible body" of Khambo Lama Itigelov. The nearest date is February 8, lunar new year's eve.

Meanwhile, the Hambo Lama Institute continues to study the heritage of the most prominent hierarch of the Buddhist Church. The phenomenon of Itigelov is investigated not only in religious terms, but also in natural sciences. And here there are more questions than answers, after long research the scientists admitted that they were not able to explain the phenomenon of the "incorruptible body". Numerous analyzes only complicated the situation. Representatives of the Buddhist Traditional Sangha and the Institute of Khambo Lama Itigelov spoke about the conclusions reached by eminent Moscow scientists at a meeting with journalists.

Director of the Institute of Khambo Lama Itigelov Yanzhima Vasilyeva explained that the study of tissue samples of the "incorruptible body" by the nuclear resonance method is now underway, and this is the end of the scientific study of the phenomenon of Itigelov. Scientists have not been able to explain the mystery of a Buddhist priest, whose body was removed from the ground 75 years after burial. They are unanimous in only one thing: the Itigelov phenomenon is a sensation not only in the history of Buddhism, but also in humanity in general. The research was supervised by Professor Viktor Zvyagin, Head of the Personality Identification Department of the Forensic Medicine Center of the Ministry of Health of Russia. He stated that studies show that the body of Hambo Lama corresponds to the body of a person who died 12 hours ago, at the same time, when one of the scientists approached him, she clearly felt hot hands.

Zvyagin and his colleagues, with the permission of the Buddhist clergy, studied tissue samples of the "incorruptible body": hair that fell from the Lama's head, skin scales and a cut of a nail. They were compared with samples of living people, including Professor Zvyagin himself. Based on the results, it was concluded that the protein structure is not disturbed and corresponds to a living person. The results of the study of the chemical composition of the body were also stunned. Scientists could not explain the fact that Itigelov has no or negligible amount of chemical elements.

The body of Khambo Lama Itigelov has been an object of worship for Buddhists in Buryatia, Russia and the world for two years now. It is located in the Ivolginsky Datsan, in a room without special equipment, in a glass sarcophagus that protects from dust rather than from time. The body of the Lama is not subject to him - no changes in 2 years. His chief superintendent Bimbo Lama is almost constantly near the teacher. After a certain time, according to the season, he changes his clothes, and by this period the joints become more mobile. Bimbo Lama noted that when changing clothes, a fragrance emanates from the teacher's body.

Lamas tell of the many miracles that take place around the Body of Precious. Including about the magical healings of people who managed to see Khambo Lama Itigelov.

This year, the sangha named only 7 days when it will be possible to bow to his body, the next one is New Year's Eve according to the lunar calendar.

PRESS CONFERENCE
ON THE PHENOMENON OF LAMA ITIGELOV AND THE PROBLEM OF IMMORTALITY

On November 29, 2006 at 15.00 in Moscow at the Russian State Humanitarian University a press conference "The world phenomenon of the XII Pandito Khambo Lama Itigelov and the problem of immortality" years after his burial.

The unique story of "life after death" of Pandito Khambo Lama Itigelov was told in detail by the head of the Department of Sustainable Innovative Development of the Dubna University, Professor Boris Bolshakov this summer at the UNESCO Baikal Conference: "Itigelov is a native of Buryatia, a famous religious figure named Khambo Lama Dashi Dorzho Itigelov (1852-1927), who was the head of Russian Buddhists from 1911 to 1917. For understanding and assessing the current state of Itigelov, it is extremely important that he passed away when performing certain ritual actions: having gathered his close students, he sat in the lotus position and asked them to perform the Buddhist prayer “Good wishes to the departing.” The students were surprised that they should read this prayer to a living person. Then Itigelov read the prayer himself. years to make sure he's alive. l demonstrate on yourself a model, some example of how you can live after death. And, apparently, he believed that a thousand years is a sufficient period for people to figure it out, to be able to understand the mechanisms, ways to achieve this goal.

In September 2002, an autopsy of the sarcophagus in which Itigelov was located took place, in the presence of the leadership of the Buddhist traditional sangha of Russia and medical experts. The general surprise was caused by the excellent preservation of the body in spite of time and the irreversibility of physical decay. Itigelov was still sitting in the same lotus position that he took when he was meditating when he passed away. He was not only outwardly recognizable, but he had all the signs of a living body: soft skin without any shades of decay, a nose, ears, closed eyes, fingers, and so on were preserved in place. I do not know of any such fact officially registered by the modern state, not only in the history of Buddhism, but also in the history of mankind in general.

It is also interesting that Itigelov was born exactly 75 years after the death of his teacher. The first head of the Buddhist Church Pandito Khambo Lama Zayayev, the founder of Buddhism in Russia, leaving this life, told his disciples: I will return to you. And in 1852, exactly 75 years later, Khambo Lama Itigelov was born. He also lives 75 years and leaves with the words: "I will return to you in 75 years."

After opening the sarcophagus, the Khambo Lama was transported to the Ivolginsky datsan (a datsan is a complex of Buddhist buildings that unites separate dagans - temples), changed and placed on the second floor in the same lotus position. Days, months and years passed, and his body remained incorrupt. The pathologists who came to the datsan were amazed - the safety of the body contradicted all the official laws of nature. After much deliberation, the current head of the Buddhists of Russia decided to give scientists the opportunity to examine the body of Itigelov. The examination was carried out by Professor Viktor Zvyagin, Head of the Personality Identification Department of the Russian Bureau of Forensic Medicine. He collected for analysis the hair that had fallen from the llama's head, peeled skin and clipped a few milligrams of a toenail. The results obtained stunned the expert: spectral analysis did not reveal anything in the organic tissues of the body that would distinguish them from the tissues of a living person. In addition to the official forensic medical examination headed by Professor Zvyagin, many other experts from different countries came to the datsan, each time various analyzes were carried out, but everyone came to the conclusion that Itigelov's body corresponded to all the parameters of the body of a living person, including eyes. But scientists have not yet been able to make sure that his brain is working. Different points of view are expressed on this matter. "

ITIGELS AND VOID
("Novaya Gazeta" dated April 6, 2007)

Few want to know the truth about Itigelov, which breaks the usual picture of the world. People judge by themselves. It is important for them to prove to themselves that everyone is the same, that it is possible to live only the way they are. People would be pleased to hear that Pushkin shot himself in duels "for the sake of image." That the New Testament was writing advertising Jerusalem for tourists. That Buddha is just an effective PR project ...

Russia is not alive because of oil prices. And Gazprom has nothing to do with it, and even Vladimir Putin. We are saved by old women praying in churches, lighting candles to the Mother of God for their last pennies. But Russia is leaving the Far East and Siberia, the Russians are also leaving Buryatia. There are less and less Orthodox attendants here. Why hasn't this land been torn apart for resources by China, Japan and the United States yet? Buryat lamas know, of course, the answer, but they do not like to rant. They only mention that the XII Pandito Khambo Lama Itigelov, taking office, swore allegiance to Emperor Nicholas II. And everything that Itigelov did is sacred for Buryat Buddhists.

Not Buddhists, but State Duma deputies, discussing the Itigelov phenomenon, said that Russia owes him both the safety of its eastern borders and the stabilization of the economy.

First Deputy Prime Minister Sergei Ivanov, who came to the Ivolginsky Datsan, said that Itigelov "continues to serve Russia," and Vice Admiral Valery Dorogin, a Duma deputy, called him "a component of national security." For a long time, scientists from the Dubna University, who have been researching the Itigelov phenomenon for a long time, stated that the mental body of the Khambo Lama extends over 18-20 thousand kilometers. And they connected with this force the sacred phenomena that are increasingly manifested in the territory of ethnic Buryatia.

It is useless to refute or argue the validity of such statements, people have always looked for a certain "fifth element", a magical link in the chain of things and events that can save and preserve here in this world. Rational reason means absolutely nothing here, because it is helpless. I’ll just fix it: when Itigelov returned to us, there really was some kind of calming down of Russia - the end of the war in Chechnya, local civil wars in large cities for property. Oil prices again. And why did the president suddenly take the pipe away from Lake Baikal, and was it the president? As for the persecution of oligarchs, Itigelov warned in his message to his descendants: "Wealth, madly collected and accumulated, will turn into a special poison."

EARTH LIFE OF ITIGELOV

Since we are going to talk about things that people who are not familiar with Buddhism will seem unrealistic, I will tell you right away about my sources of information. Yanzhima Vasilyeva, grand-niece of Khambo Lama Itigelov and director of the Institute named after him, talking about the earthly journey of his great relative, relies on the testimonies of fellow countrymen collected by her, fifty archival sources, state and monastery. She immediately warned that there are three versions of Itigelov's biography: from birth, 1852, to 1895. All are archived confirmed, but contradict each other.

Also, information was received from Ganzhur Lama, rector of the Buddhist University, Bimba Lama, guardian of the precious body of Itigelov, and XXIV Pandito Khambo Lama Damba Ayusheev. Each of them brought bright colors to the story of Itigelov's earthly lives.

So, it is believed that Dashi Dorzho Itigelov was born in 1852. Nevertheless, the lamas suggest that the boy was born immediately at the age of five. Nobody knows or knew who his mother was. The Buryats have always had a very careful attitude to the pedigree, they remembered and recorded up to 30 generations. True, in the male line, women did not fit in. And the family of the father is known, about the mother - zero information. The boy grew up an orphan - a unique case, since all the children of the Buryats who were left without parents were brought up by relatives. The advantage of life is by birth. Khambo Lama Ayusheev believes that Itigelov is of unearthly origin.

The boy was herding other people's livestock and said that he would be a Khambo lama. They laughed at him. One day he appeared astride a bull with a stake in his hand. There was a human skull on the stake. The lamas became aware of what had happened, they predicted a special fate and a great destiny for the child. Indeed, everything was a foregone conclusion. As a youth, he went to study at the Aninsky datsan, and his teachers were people, for whom, when they were just born, Tibetan lamas specially came. These children were earthly incarnations of the Buddha of Longevity and the Buddha of Wisdom. The monks of the Aninsky datsan responded with a polite refusal: "The gods themselves know where to be born." His teacher was also the shirete (abbot) of the Aninsky datsan, the earthly embodiment of the Buddha of compassion. He assigned the student a salary of 5 rubles a month and ordered the residents of the surrounding villages to pay this money in turn. For more than 15 years, residents of Oybont also paid a fee for the release of Dasha Dorzho from military service - he was considered a native of the Cossack estate.

And when, in 1911, Itigelov was ordered to become the head of the Lamaist clergy of Eastern Siberia and Transbaikalia, all the obstacles to his election were suddenly resolved. A lot of people around - from lamas to the governor of Eastern Siberia - are doing things that help to fulfill the fate of Itigelov. Ayusheev: “These are incredible things. It seems that everything and everyone was subordinated to the fulfillment of the mission entrusted to Itigelov. "

According to the testimony of the lamas, during his lifetime Itigelov said that he knew about his three reincarnations. So, for believers, he was indisputably the reincarnation of the first Khambo Lama Zayayev, the founder of Buddhism in Russia. Zayayev was born in 1702. He lived for 75 years and, leaving, promised his students to return. In 1852, 75 years after Zayayev's death, Itigelov was born. He also lives for 75 years. And it comes back to us again in 75 years. That is, the number 75 is repeated four times. When Itigelov took office as Khambo Lama, the parishioners of the Tsongol datsan, which was flooded during the floods, asked him to determine a new place for the construction of the temple. He indicated the place, saying that Zayayev's bell and vajra were buried there. And there his personal belongings were indeed found and subsequently a new datsan was built.

Two years ago, Lama Zhargal Dugdanov discovered a previously unknown Itigelov manuscript among thousands of publications stored in Devazhin-Dugan of the Ivolginsky Datsan. On five sheets in Tibetan, he talks about 12 of his reincarnations over several millennia: five in India, five in Tibet and two in Buryatia. Itigelov tells how in a past life, being Zayayev, he alternately presents offerings in the form of gold, silver and coral to the Dalai Lama, Panchen Lama and Buddhist deities and receives information from them about his previous lives. Pandito Khambo Lama Damba Ayusheev: "If there were even one inaccuracy in this book, he would never have been able to achieve an eternal body."

Nicholas II and the royal family revered Itigelov (Buryat lamas, let me remind you, healed crowned persons), he had many Russian awards. The native people, the Buryats, began to idolize him during their lifetime. In 1903, when he was appointed shiretete of the Yangazhinsky datsan, he donated all his fortune for the construction of new dugans in honor of the soldiers who died in the Russo-Japanese War. Three hundred Yangazhinsky Cossacks received a blessing from him, going to the front of the First World War, and none of them died, all returned home. Itigelov creates the "General Buryat Society" - to help the front. Having united 120 religious and secular persons, Itigelov collected money for the wounded and their families, organized hospitals, and sent emch-lamas to the front-line hospitals. On Orthodox Easter in 1915, the soldiers received parcels from Buddhist Buryatia.

Itigelov did not harbor illusions about Soviet power. In contrast to colleagues, who hoped that the Buddhist religion would make it possible to peacefully coexist with the new regime. Alas, the lamas soon found out that the Soviet regime viewed everything from the position of two extremes: the eternal and the non-eternal, matter and spirit, materialism and idealism. And the communists chose one of the extremes (we, as the heirs of the Bolsheviks, are also trying to understand: Itigelov is alive or dead, we cannot understand any other state). Buddhists, on the other hand, profess the principle of the middle, free from extreme judgments: no love, no hate - only compassion.

It did not work to coexist with the Bolsheviks, some of the lamas left for Tibet, others were awaited by arrests and executions - everything, as Itigelov predicted. Buddhist shrines were destroyed. The Yangazhinsky datsan was erased into dust - the steppe was white from it, from scraps of manuscripts. And in the Aninsky datsan, in the ruins of the blown up central dugan, a slaughterhouse was arranged.

But all this happened after Itigelov left. He himself did not try to emigrate, he said about the commissars: "They will not take me." And so it happened.

There are many legends about the arrests of Buryat yogis. The NKVDs came many times for one of the lamas. Guzhi Dashinima sat in plain sight and read, but they did not see him. When they got tired of these games of hide and seek, they began to threaten the lama's disciples, and then he decided to surrender himself into the hands of the new government. However, soon the guards found him dead - the lama, having entered samadhi, left the body. Ganzhur Lama told me: in those days it was still in the order of things - lamas flew, passed through walls, instantly covered huge distances, walked and rode horses on water, like on dry land.

One can treat the stories about the supernatural powers of the Buryat yogis as legends, but Yanzhima refers, for example, to the preserved official police report. It follows from it that in May 1917 (revolutionary outrages had already occurred) the returned front-line soldiers in the Tamchinsky datsan staged a brawl and drunkenness. Itigelov, having learned about this, rushed to the datsan - on a horse he rode along the surface of the White Lake (now called Sulfatnoye) as if along a paved road. Then he jumped from the steep bank of Goose Lake, cut the water surface and rushed straight to the datsan along the dry bottom. When he jumped ashore, the waters closed behind him. The rising waves washed away some of the brawlers gathered in the datsan and cleared the desecrated territory. Those who remained, seeing the Khambo Lama, fled in fear.

Itigelov, a practitioner of the highest level, they say, could instantly move: as soon as the door was closed behind him, he immediately found himself a kilometer away from it, turning into a point.

In 1917, Itigelov left the post of Pandito Khambo Lama. He wrote a message to his descendants, it was discovered only in 1998 in the library of the Ivolginsky Datsan. He knew that he would return in an eternal body. On June 15, 1927, Itigelov, in a state of meditation, plunged into nirvana. Before that, he turned to the monks with a request to read him a special prayer - good wishes to the departing. She is accompanied by the departed so that the soul leaving the body finds its karmic purpose. The embarrassed disciples could not decide on this prayer with a living Teacher, then Itigelov began it himself. The monks were forced to pick her up. In the lotus position, in which the Khambo Lama stopped breathing, the body was buried in a bumkhan (cedar box) in the Kukhe-Zurkhen area. Before leaving completely, he gave clear instructions on how to bury him and when to visit - for the first time in 30 years.

LIFE AFTER DEATH

A group of lamas raised the body of Itigelov in 1955 - two years earlier than he bequeathed. The procedure was forced - a strong storm in the village of Zun Orongoy tore off the roofs, and the head of the Buddhist clergy decided to carry out the necessary ceremonies before the named date. Convinced of the immutability of Itigelov's body, the lamas changed his clothes and boomkhan. The same ritual was performed in 1973. Then it was associated with a severe flood that cut off the Ivolginsky district from Ulan-Ude for a month.

The current guardian of Itigelov's body, Bimba Lama, is very benevolent, but not particularly talkative, believing that only after his departure to another world it will be possible to disclose “his innermost”. Nevertheless, he does not hide - he always kept in mind the idea that the current generation of lamas needs to find Itigelov's sarcophagus again and check the condition of his body. He saw in a dream his meeting with the great Teacher. The discovery of his message only confirmed the desire of the Bimba Lama. He found a person who knew exactly where the Teacher was buried - the grandfather of Amgalan Dabaev, born in 1914. On September 7, 2002, he indicated to Ayusheev the place of burial. It is interesting that Pandito Khambo Lama independently went to this place, grandfather approached him by a different path.

The lamas received the consent of their relatives for exhumation, and on September 10 they dug up a box with the body, covered with salt, at a depth of one and a half meters. The forensic expert who was present, having examined the body, refused to do anything with it, since he had never seen such a thing. And he asked to create a commission. The lama was not only outwardly recognizable, he was found to have all the signs of a living body: elastic skin without any signs of decay, his nose, ears, eyes (they are closed), fingers were preserved in place. All his joints were bent, including the smallest ones on the fingers. Teeth, hair, eyelashes, eyebrows are perfectly preserved. Itigelov was transferred to the Ivolginsky Datsan.

Bimba Tsybikov, born in 1910, candidate of historical sciences, who had seen the lama before 1927, was invited for identification. According to him, the Hamba Lama was short and very thin, and is now even smaller. But he immediately recognized the features of Itigelov's face - they did not change at all.

From the "act of external examination of the exhumed corpse", signed on September 11 by three leading specialists of the republican center of forensic medical examination: "Any extraneous aromatic, resinous or putrid odors from the contents of the box and from the corpse were not determined ... The soft tissues of the corpse of a tight elastic consistency, mobility in the joints is preserved ... Hair on the head, nail plates are preserved. The posture of the corpse when removing the latter from the box is maintained without the use of any supporting and fixing devices. No traces of previously performed opening of body cavities for the purpose of possible embalming or preservation, as well as any injuries, traces of previous injuries, surgical interventions, diseases on the body of the corpse were not found.

First, a sarcophagus was built for the lama from a double-glazed unit, then it was decided to order two refrigerators from the Krasnoyarsk Biryusa plant. However, they did not have to be plugged in - there is no need. There is no need to protect Itigelov from time. The glass only protects against dust. The monks say that sometimes it fogs up from the inside. Itigelova Bimba Lama dresses up, he also takes care of the body, wiping it with a towel. The clothes of the Khambo Lama were returned from the Museum of the History of Buryatia. New robes were made by a seamstress from the Upper Ivolga. Dr. Alexei Azheev says he felt Itigelov rolling with laughter as he and his colleagues measured his body. (In the datsan, you don't always understand who you are now being talked about - about a long-dead lama or about a living one. About whose emotions, whose laughter, whose lively reactions are being told.)

In December 2004, Viktor Zvyagin, Head of the Personality Identification Department of the Russian Center for Forensic Medicine of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, took part in the second examination. In addition, samples of hair, skin, which itself peeled off, and a cut of a nail from a llama's leg were transferred to Zvyagin for examination in Moscow. From his comments: “The condition of the tissues is such that it fully corresponds to the lifetime characteristics. We are not aware of such preservation cases, this is a kind of scientific mystery ... In many respects, the body of the Hamba Lama gives the impression of the body of a living person ... tissues of a living person ... There are no artificial methods known to science to maintain such a state of the body, such as mummification, embalming, etc. in this case were not applied. There are no traces of autopsy, removal of the brain and internal organs, we did not find any injections, cuts or similar influences. " Military doctors have studied the nucleus of the cell using the nuclear resonance method. Their conclusion: the cell is alive and the nucleus is intact.

ADVENTURE OF THE SOUL

The Dalai Lama said that Itigelov had not yet reached the state of Buddha, but he was moving towards it. And Bogdo Gegen IX believes that the lama has already gone beyond samsara, having stopped rebirth. Meanwhile, people who have been observing the llama over the years note that his hair has grown and darkened and his skin color has changed somewhat - in some places it has turned brown, somewhere it has become golden. When I asked if this is a precedent in Buddhism, Ganzhur Lama answered negatively. Attempts to preserve the bodies of teachers have been known since the Middle Ages. Having decided to leave this life, they can plunge into the state of samadhi and purify the body so that after death it is preserved.

It remains to take our word for it: in samadhi, the vital activity of the "gross body" stops completely, or the life processes slow down millions of times. This happens under the conscious control of the yogi - his "subtle body" continues to live. In other words, Itigelov slowed down, almost stopped time. The body only seems to be dead, the vital energy is left in it, and it must be protected from external influences. Therefore, before plunging into samadhi, the monks retired to caves inaccessible to others. Who has not heard the legends about the Tibetan caves, in which the frozen yogis have been "sitting" for many centuries?

I heard a slightly different explanation (in general, as you understand, the hierarchs of Buddhism demonstrate an enviable pluralism of opinions regarding the state of Itigelov). His soul, which has attained enlightenment, is outside the body, but has a connection with it. And - can return.

Be that as it may, humanity has not previously been able to make sure of the success of preserving the body unchanged after death. There are no analogues of incorruptibility that would exist today or about them would be known from archival records. The only example mentioned by both Yanzhima and Ganzhur Lama is Bogdo Zonkhava. On the eighth day after leaving this world, his hair began to grow, and he was placed in a mortar. It was in Lhasa, in 1959 the Chinese military blew it up.

By the way, the lamas say that on the basis of Bogdo Zonkhava's "Praise to Interdependent Origins" (the root text on the emptiness of all phenomena) Itigelov made "a comprehensive and qualitative analysis of emptiness and achieved a direct, practical comprehension of emptiness - the great reality of all phenomena." Well, it would be simpler ... Expert Elena Aleksandrovskaya said that the samples of Itigelov's body tissues do not contain iron, zinc, silver, iodine, or they are negligible. “It feels like there is emptiness inside! Where did it all go? " She suggests that this perfect void has suppressed all bacteria.

True, the Itigelov Institute forwarded her report to the RAS for evaluation, and from there they replied that this is a very rough analysis, the error is large. And since scientists began to violate agreements - such a study was not planned, it was decided to return the tissue samples on January 3, 2005 to their homeland. This was accompanied by an ugly story: Professor Zvyagin was warned that a photo of the great lama without clothes (he was allowed to be taken for anthropological research) should not be leaked to the tabloid press. But that's exactly what happened.

Leaving his will, Itigelov knew that his body would not be touched by decay. But the trick is that this emptiness is not only comprehended and meaningful, the Hambo Lama from it, independent of our time and space, watches our world and talks to us. In January 2003, he suddenly began to lose weight, and behind the glass where he was, the humidity for some reason surged over 96%. This went on for three days, during which the people around wondered what to do. It was always believed that Itigelov in 1922 plunged four sacred vessels into the ground. Jewels, medicinal herbs, sacred things were kept there - in order to harmonize relations with the owner of that area (in Buryatia, the forces of nature are spiritualized: for example, no matter what mountain you go by, you will certainly be told who is its owner - a man or a woman, and why the mistress of this mountain , to which during the war earthly women went to pray, let the townspeople dachas approach her, and the owner of that mountain over there allowed only the military to place locators on the top).

So, in order to clarify the information about these "earth stabilizers", the lamas urgently went to the old people, and one 90-year-old grandmother suddenly said that there are actually five such vessels, not four. When he, the fifth, was found and performed ritual actions, Itigelov's weight immediately returned to the previous 41 kg, the humidity behind the glass returned to normal. In May 2003, the lamas lifted another vessel and a copy of it was loaded under the Itigelov palace under construction in the datsan. And the original, having been updated, was returned to its place.

Today it is believed that the great lama wrote more than 50 philosophical books. Most are under sacred names, their authorship continues to be established even now, to translate (so far it turns out badly into Russian, the meaning is lost), to try to decipher and interpret. Not all manuscripts have been found yet. Ganzhur Lama believes that Itigelov himself decides when to give them to us. Looks when we ripen to them.

But the main book, the lamas say, is his body. A textbook that clearly tells about human capabilities.

Lately, Itigelov has opened his eyes twice. At his institute they say that it has not yet been clarified what this is connected with. On February 16, a few minutes before the meeting of the Hambo Lama with the people, it happened again. This is the testimony of Konstantin Zhalsaraev, he was there. From that day on, he decided to work at the Itigelov Institute as a volunteer.

And further. During my stay in the Ivolginsky Datsan, it became obvious to me that a huge amount of information lamas deliberately do not make public. They can be understood. They take care of both Itigelov and their lives from our "good" world.

They already know: people judge by themselves. It is important for them to prove to themselves that everyone is the same, that it is possible to live only the way they are. People would be pleased to hear that Pushkin shot himself in duels "for the sake of image." That the New Testament was writing advertising Jerusalem for tourists. That Buddha is just an effective PR project.

Few want to know the truth about Itigelov, which breaks the usual picture of the world. Well, in this world, unlike Itigelov, we live and die.

BUDDHA PREDICTED ITIGELOV?

Scientists and theologians try to uncover the secret of the imperishable body of the Hambo Lama

The international conference "Pandito Hambo Lama Itigelov Phenomenon" opened on Monday and will be held from July 2 to 3 at the Ivolginsky Datsan in Buryatia. It is dedicated to the fifth anniversary of the acquisition of the body of pandito hambo lama Dasha-Dorzho Itigelov. But in general, the conference is viewed by the scientists gathered at it as "an attempt to understand the phenomenon of erdene munhe bee" (the sacred incorruptible body) of the lama.

According to Itigelov Institute Director Yanzhima Vasilyeva, about 20 reports in five sections will be considered at the conference: in addition to the phenomenon of the incorruptible body of a lama, scientists will solve "questions on decoding Itigelov's message, his influence on others, as well as philosophical aspects of Buddhism in Russia."

In addition, the line of succession from the pandito khambo lama will be revealed: we recall that in 2003, in the library of the Ivolginsky datsan, Itigelov's manuscript was found, in which he described his 12 existence on earth. "The book reliably describes five sojourns of Itigelov in India, five in Tibet and two on the territory of Buryatia," Yanzhima Vasilyeva believes.

Representatives of the Dubna University are expected to take part in the conference. They are the ones who own the version that the phenomenon of the pandito hambo lama is associated with the unique junction point of the Amur, Lena and Yenisei river basins, which was established in 1977 by the geography teacher of the Kusochin secondary school of the Mogoytuy region, Zhalsarain.

There is no other point in the world's watershed where the three largest rivers in the world meet. In 1983, by the decision of the Russian Geographical Society, this point was assigned the status of a state natural monument and was given a name in honor of the outstanding explorer of Transbaikalia, P.S. Pallas.

In addition, this conclusion intersects with the statements of Buddha Shakyamuni that "Buddhism will receive a new impetus for development in the northernmost point of its distribution, which is Buryatia." Also of great importance is the fact that on the territory of the republic in the Egituysky datsan there is a lifetime statue of Buddha - "Zandan Zhuu", which is two and a half millennia old.

Time will show what conclusion scientists and clergy will come to after today's conference. However, more than 150 representatives of Buddhist and secular science came to Buryatia to talk about the phenomenon of an imperishable body, as well as to discuss the problems of modern Buddhism. Traditionally, the event opens with the construction of the mandala of the pandito hambo lama Dasha-Dorzho Itigelov.

Dashi Dorzho Itigelov was born in 1852. In 1911, Dashi was elected the XII Pandito Hambo Lama, after which he was the head of Russian Buddhists until 1917. In the summer of 1927, Itigelov, in a state of meditation, plunged into nirvana. In the lotus position, in which he stopped breathing, the body in a cedar box was immersed in the ground, to a depth of one and a half meters.

On September 11, 2002, an opening of the sarcophagus with the body of Dashi-Dorzho Itigelov (1852-1927) took place in the Ivolginsky Datsan. The body was removed from the "bumkhan" - the burial place of a lama in the area of Huhe-Zurkhen ("Blue Heart" - Bur.) In the presence of the leadership and priests of the Buddhist traditional Sangha of Russia. After 75 years from the moment of placing the body of the Great Lama, it was preserved in excellent condition - in the same lotus position that Itigelov took when he performed a miracle while meditating. Physiological processes take place in it. Scientists testify: there is no explanation for this. Pilgrims come to him thousands of miles away. Some call him Buddha.

The Central Spiritual Directorate of the Sangha of Russia decided to create all conditions for the further preservation of the precious relic, since according to the Gelek-Balbar Lama, "worshiping the body of a yogi can bring great benefit to all believers." Since the time of the disciples of Tszonghava, the founder of the Gelukpa school (15th century), there have been attempts to preserve the bodies of teachers, but not all have been successful. We can say that the Buddhists of Buryatia are lucky.

By the decision of the Central Spiritual Directorate of the Sangha of Russia in 2003, in the Ivolginsky Datsan (Republic of Buryatia), the construction of the temple-palace of the Hambo Lama Dashi-Dorzho Itigelov "Etigel Khambyn Ordon" began. According to the project, in this temple-palace the main shrine will be the imperishable body of the Hambo Lama and the statues of Buddhas made by Buryat masters of past centuries. Today the imperishable body of Dasha Itigelov is on the upper floors of the main dugan of the Ivolginsky datsan.

SCIENTISTS STUDY THE "ETERNAL LIVE" LAMU

About 150 scientists and theologians from Europe, Mongolia, regions of Russia are taking part in the first international conference "Pandito Pandito Khambo Lama Itigelov", which takes place at the official residence in the Ivolginsky datsan - the Buddhist traditional Sangha of Russia.

They started talking about the phenomenon of the "eternally living" lama in September 2002, when the mummy of the head of Russian Buddhist clerics, Pandit Khambo Lama Dashi-Dorzho Itigelov XII, was unearthed in one of the cemeteries in Buryatia. The sensation was that the body of the lama, buried in 1927, not only did not decompose, but in general Itigelov looked as if he were alive. Republican forensic experts who examined the body could not believe that three quarters of a century had passed since death. According to legend, in 1927, 75-year-old Pandita Khambo Lama Dashi-Dorzho Itigelov XII sat in the lotus position, meditated and stopped showing signs of life. In the same lotus position, the monks placed him in a cedar box, covered him with salt and buried him in the cemetery. Before his death, the lama gave orders to remove his body from the grave twice: after 30 and after 75 years.

For the first time, they dug up the llama two years ahead of schedule, made sure that nothing had happened with the body, and buried it again. In 1973, Itigelov's grave was opened again. For the third time (now finally), the llama was removed from the ground in 2002. The body was transported to the Ivolginsky Datsan and placed in a glass sarcophagus. After some time, forensic experts were allowed to the incorruptible body, who drew up an act of external examination of the corpse. The protocol drawn up by the experts, in particular, reads: “... the skin is light gray in color, dry, pliable when pressed with fingers. The soft tissues of the corpse are of tight elastic consistency, the mobility in the joints is preserved. Hair on the head, nail plates are preserved. The posture of the corpse when removing the latter from the box is maintained without the use of any supporting and fixing devices. No traces of the previously performed opening of the body cavities for the purpose of possible embalming or conservation, as well as injuries, traces of previous injuries, surgical interventions, diseases on the body of the corpse were not found. " Later, scientists began to study the body of the lama more thoroughly. The most detailed study of Itigelov's body was managed by V. Zvyagin, Head of the Personality Identification Department of the Russian Center for Forensic Medical Examination of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, and G. Ershova, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor of the Russian State Humanitarian University, who stated that they had never encountered such a phenomenon. “Samples taken 75 years after the burial showed that the organic matter of the skin, hair and nails of this deceased person is no different from the organic matter of the living,” says Galina Ershova. One of the experts, I. Vologdin, said: “This has never happened in my practice ... The soft tissues are perfectly preserved. The mobility of the joints also remained. And most importantly, the pose has been preserved. It is not a mummy, it is not a relic. This is an extraordinary event that we cannot yet explain. "

The experts also found that no preservatives were used to preserve Itigelov's body. The study of the cell by the nuclear resonance method showed that the nucleus is intact, and the state of the cytoplasm is rather characteristic of living tissue. However, V. Zvyagin, answering the question of journalists whether it is still possible to consider the Hambo Lama a living person, answered in the negative: “No. If the body temperature is below 20 degrees Celsius, the person is dead ... "

Despite the fact that the case with the body of Pandito Khambo Lama Itigelov is unique, the lama is not the only “imperishable” Buddhist. In the courtyard of the Thien Dau Temple, 23 km from Hanoi, the mummy of the abbot of the Wu Khak Min monastery has been sitting in the lotus position for 300 years. According to legend, by the end of his days, Abbot Ming immersed himself in fasting and prayer. A hundred days later, Min turned to the monks gathered in front of him: “The time has come for me to leave this world. When my spirit flies from my body, wait a month. here for me to offer prayers to the Buddha forever! " After the death of Wu Khak Min, no rotting was observed on the body. The monks covered the abbot's body with silver paint to protect him from insects, and left him to sit on a small dais in the niche of the chapel. After Vietnam gained independence, Abbot Min's mummy was X-rayed. The doctors saw the outline of the skeleton on the screen and made sure that in front of them was really not a statue, but a human body. Research has shown that Min's body was not embalmed, and his internal organs and brain remained intact. The body was preserved in tropical Vietnam, where the humidity reaches one hundred percent. At the same time, Min's remains were not moistened, but dried out. During the study at the hospital, the mummy weighed only 7 kilograms.

In addition, in one of the Buddhist schools in Japan, there is a method of "lifetime mummification." In the 9th century, the monk Kukai founded the Shingon esoteric school. One of the ideas of the founder of the school was the idea of "Shoushin Jёbutsu" - "to become a buddha in your own body." The ascetic who embarked on this path, after prayers and meditations, proceeded to the final stage of his life, which lasted at least a thousand days. The conditions for this stage were immobility, detachment, contemplation, a special breathing regime. The diet consisted of decreasing portions of food, excluding all nutrients such as starchy substances. The body switched to consuming its own tissues, and by the end of the phase only skin and bones remained of the person. The corpse was placed in dry conditions to speed up the drying of the remaining soft tissue. The practice of in vivo mummification became widespread among adherents of the teachings of "shugendo" - "mountain recluse". Mummies were exhibited in temples, they were worshiped as incarnations of the Buddhas.

However, unlike Wu Khak Min and the Japanese Buddhists practicing lifetime mummification, the body of Lama Itigelov did not shrink and generally did not undergo any changes. Moreover, when the lama's skin was accidentally injured, a red jelly-like mass appeared from the wound, into which the blood turned. Scientists note that not a single such fact has so far been seen not only in the history of Buddhism, but also in the history of mankind in general. Experts are going to continue to study this phenomenon, but for now the relics of the lama are in a special temple and are the object of worship of believers. Buddhists believe that the Hambo Lama attained the comprehension of Emptiness - the Great Reality of all phenomena. Therefore, leaving life, I entered a state of meditation and purified my body so that after death it is preserved. By the way, everyone can see the incorruptible lama on the set days, for this, even some travel agencies organize special tours.

ACHIEVED THE FIRST RESULTS OF DECODING THE MESSAGE OF ITIGELOV

The first results have been achieved in deciphering the message of Pandito Khambo Lama Dasha Dorzho Itigelov. Shireete (abbot) Baldan Lama Bazarov announced this at the international conference "Pandito Khambo Lama Itigelov Phenomenon".

According to him, decryption began immediately after the book was found. “The work is hampered by the fact that the text is written allegorically in the old Mongolian language interspersed with Tibetan and Sanskrit,” said Baldan Lama.

Nevertheless, in two years it was possible to decipher a small part of the message - in it Pandito Khambo Lama Itigelov predicts the events of the 20-30s. But at the same time, as Buddhist philosophers working on the manuscript note, the code of the message is not completely clear. The message itself is multi-layered - “one word in it can be interpreted in different ways,” Lama Bazarov said.

The message of the shirete of the Kyakhtinsky datsan aroused many questions from the secular scientists gathered at the conference. “Now it is difficult to say something about the meaning of the message, how interesting it is, just as incomprehensible. Nevertheless, it is there, and work on deciphering it must be continued, ”said Alexander Zavyalov, professor at the Novosibirsk Institute of Psychotherapy.

“It's just some kind of Buryat Nostradamus. And if we manage to decipher the message in its entirety, I think it will be the greatest knowledge for all of us, ”said Tatyana Strizhova, senior researcher at the Russian State Humanitarian Institute.

THE SECRET OF THE IMMEDIATELY LAMA DISCOVERED
("Arguments and Facts" dated July 4, 2007)

On September 10, 2002, the body of the 12th Pandito Hambo Lama was lifted out of the ground, and it was discovered that the Hambo Lama literally lives after death: he has warm hands, he sweats and even opens his eyes. For the first time, leading scientists and religious leaders tried to explain this phenomenon.

Now the body of Itigelov was transferred to the Ivolginsky Datsan as a sacred relic. The lamas take care of him, albeit in a rather uncomplicated way - sometimes they brush away the dust. Five years ago, the phenomenon of Itigelov shocked the whole world, but since then there have been no serious public events on this occasion. And on July 2, the first international conference "Pandito Khambo Lama Itigelov Phenomenon" took place in Buryatia. The version of the origin of this miracle was presented to the general public for the first time.

On the opening day of the conference, there was a sweltering heat. More than 130 participants of the forum gathered in the main Buddhist temple of Russia - Ivolginsky datsan - in order to explain the phenomenon of the imperishable body of Khambo Lama Dasha Dashi Dorzho Itigelov with the help of two sciences - secular and Buddhist.

The conference was attended by the patriarchs of the Buddhist Church, religious scholars, journalists, ordinary lay people from Norway, India, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, and Russian cities. “Khambo Lama Itigelov miraculously left his bodily collection of five skandhas unchanged,” said Damba Ayushev, the Khambo Lama of the Buddhist Traditional Sangha of Russia, a member of the Public Chamber under the President of the Russian Federation. - The moment of truth has come for the first time. We will decide how to deal with the phenomenon. Our conference will go down in history as the first attempt to explain the phenomenon of the precious body of Khambo Lama Itigelov. "

Then the head of the Buddhists of Russia Damba Ayushev voiced why the body of the Khambo Lama Dasha Dorzho Itigelov was not subjected to decay. In the 20s of the last century, the 12th Khambo Lama performed a ritual of nesting 5 sacred vessels for the spirits of the earth, the owners of the area. At the same time, he never touched the ground, which is why the great element keeps his body. “The Hambo Lama asked the believers not to lower him to the ground during the ritual (during the ritual, the disciples carried him in their arms). This is one of the reasons that his body has not changed, ”said Damba Ayushev. And thus, according to Buddhists, the Hambo Lama attained the comprehension of Emptiness - the great reality of all phenomena. Therefore, leaving life, he entered a state of meditation and purified his body. And now, even after death, it remains.

SCIENCE IS NOT ABLE TO EXPLAIN AN OBVIOUS BUDDHIST PHENOMENON

The phenomenon of Khambo Lama Itigelov, with all its obviousness and openness to scientists, is not subject to modern biological science in principle.

In Buryatia, the conference "Phenomenon of the XII Pandito Khambo Lama Dasha-Dorzho Itigelov" was held, dedicated to the phenomenon of the incorruptibility of the body of Lama Itigelov. 130 theologians, journalists and secular scientists from all over the world, gathered in the Ivolginsky datsan, tried to understand the reasons why for 80 years since the death of Khambo Lama, his body has not been touched by decay.

The “Itigelov Phenomenon” is not only poorly consistent with current scientific doctrines, but contradicts them in principle. But at the same time, on the one hand, it is open to scientists, and on the other, it finds an explanation in the fact of faith and is fully consistent with the doctrine of Buddhism, which is based on the teaching of the Four Noble Truths.

XII Pandito Khambo Lama (in the world Dasha-Dorzho Itigelov) was born in 1852. In 1911 he was elected XII Pandito Khambo Lama, the head of all Russian Buddhists. In 1917, he resigned from the post of Hambo Lama, and in 1927 he passed away, bequeathed to get his body out of the ground. The body of Khambo Lama Itigelov in the lotus position was placed in a sarcophagus and buried.

In September 2002, the sarcophagus was raised, and upon opening it, it turned out that the Lama's body had not undergone decay. According to the forensic expert, Doctor of Medical Sciences Viktor Zvyagin, the body of the lama has no pronounced posthumous changes. The joints are mobile, the skin is elastic. Using infrared spectrophotometry, it was shown that the protein fractions of the Hambo Lama have in vivo characteristics.

According to Vostok-Teleinform, at a conference held in Buryatia, an expert from India Jampa Sandapa expressed the opinion that Itigelov is still in long-term meditation, and cited examples from the history of Buddhism when yogis reached the same state. The abbot of the Ivolginsky datsan, Dagba Lama Ochirov, noted in his report that Itigelov had reached the highest state in Buddhism associated with the awareness of emptiness.

Perhaps Khambo Lama Itigelov reached the state of samadhi, in which a person's breathing and heart rate sharply decreases, and the metabolism slows down. According to the teachings of yogis, during samadhi, a person's consciousness functions, but does not manifest itself in the form of feelings and logical thinking, from which a person, on the contrary, is freed. The one who has attained samadhi can arbitrarily regulate his life processes.

In addition to the phenomenon of the incorruptibility of the body of Khambo Lama Itigelov, the conference discussed his spiritual heritage, prophecies, as well as some philosophical aspects of Buddhism.

JUMBO LAMA RIDING A HORSE ON THE LAKE AS ON THE EARTH
("Arguments and Facts" dated July 24, 2007)

According to the surviving official police report, Itigelov once rode on a horse along the surface of White Lake (now called Sulfatnoye), as if along a paved road. He could instantly move: as soon as the door was closed behind him, he immediately found himself a kilometer away from it, turning into a point. No one, however, can repeat his method of comprehending emptiness. The current head of the Buddhists of Russia, Khambo Lama Ayusheev, on this score, they say, noted:

If I knew how to do this, I would have left this world of suffering long ago.

In July of this year, an international conference "The Phenomenon of the XII Pandito Khambo Lama Itigelov" was held in the Ivolginsky Datsan. According to the plan of the organizers, it should not have had either a pronounced scientific or religious character. As Khambo Lama Ayushev said:

The phenomenon is of interest to everyone. Let them come, let them say what they want, what they see, what they understand.

Although the abstracts of the conference have not yet been published, it is known that the opinions of the participants regarding the state of Itigelov were divided. Buddhist scholar from India Jampa Sandapa is sure that Itigelov is still in a state of prolonged meditation. In the history of Buddhism, yogis have attained the same state many times.

Indeed, hermits in Tibet, who decided to improve themselves by detachment from the world, retired in stone bags in complete darkness and emptiness. The first retreat lasted, as a rule, 3 years, 3 months and 3 days. Once a day, food was delivered to the hermits. After the expiration of the term, the hermit returned to the world, but not for long. Next time, taking reclusiveness for the rest of his days.

For 75 years no one gave Itigelov any food, and he left on the eve of the persecution against the lamst, having previously said that they would not have time to take him. Thus, he managed to avoid reprisals and did not see the destruction of datsans and desecration of the faith.

The life of a yogi is by no means colorless and not useless, he can be useful indirectly, through his thoughts - waves of energy, which become material when concentrated. A directed and partially concentrated thought can move objects, turn into an instrument of telepathy, and force a person to perform certain actions at a distance. However, this technique is not the highest in Buddhism.

The abbot of the Ivolginsky datsan, Lama Dagba Ochirov, on the contrary, expressed the opinion that Itigelov had reached the highest state in Buddhism - emptiness. According to the Keeper of the Precious Body Gelong Lama Bimba Dorzhiev, no analogues of the Itigelov phenomenon have been found, despite the search.

According to other lamas, Khambo Itigelov kept his body, anticipating troubled times. He left himself the opportunity to return to the world at the right time to save people from suffering. The lamas believe that Itigelov has already brought colossal benefits to all living things. Helping sentient beings get away from suffering and find a good birth, he thereby contributes to the purification of the common karma of the whole world.

HUMBO-LAMA ETIHELOV SURPRISED AGAIN

Hambo Lama Etigelov, photo memorial.krsk.ru

The Buddhist traditional sangha of Russia presented new materials dedicated to the phenomenon of the imperishable body of the Buddhist saint, the XIIth Pandito Hambo Lama Etigelov. The teachings of the saint and his answers to questions that the lamas of the Ivolginsky datsan receive every morning directly from the Hambo Lama Etigelov, are today classified by topic and collected in a separate collection.

This unique source was first presented by the acting XXIV Pandito Hambo Lama Damba Ayusheev at the International Conference "The Phenomenon of the XII Pandito Hambo Lama Etigelov", which began today in Ivolginsky Datsan. It was attended by scientists, religious and public figures from different cities of Russia (Moscow, St. Petersburg, Krasnoyarsk, Kyzyl, Ulan-Ude), Mongolia, China, USA, Uzbekistan.

This is the fifth scientific conference dedicated to the Etigelov phenomenon, which is held under the auspices of the Buddhist Traditional Sangha of Russia (BTSD). The conference is traditionally organized by the Dashi Choynhorlin Buddhist University (BTSD), the Pandito Institute of the Hambo Lama Itigelov and the Ivolginsky Datsan Khambyn Khuree.

This is the fifth conference. I believe that the time when we discussed the biography of Hambo Lama Etigelov, the history of his life and related legends and traditions is over, '' the current Pandito Hambo Lama of the BTSD Damba Ayusheev told the Asia Russia Daily (ARD) Internet portal. - We, as real Buddhists, do not live in the past and will not look far into the future. Today we are trying to live according to the instructions that the Hambo Lama Etigelov gives us every day.

He talks about the teaching and teacher, about Buddha Shakyamuni and Buddhism, about bodhisattvas and buddhas-dhyanis, about idams and dakinis, about sahyusans and celestials, "masters of the area" and nagas. That is, about the pantheon of Buddhism. At the same time, he tells us about moral concepts, about compassion, peace, bodhichitta, as well as about various aspects of life, about the native language, homeland, climate, human health and much more. Very interesting things the Hambo Lama says about the bosses! (laughs). Therefore, our task is to ensure that everything that the Etigelov Hambo Lama gives us in his messages is collected and not lost for people. I hope that after this conference some of his words will enter the lives of people!

"NOTES" FROM HUMBO LAMA ETIHELOV

Khambo Lama Damba Ayusheev told ARD about how the technical exchange of information between the incorruptible body of Etigelov and the lamas of the Ivolginsky datsan takes place. It turns out that every morning for the past several years the chief keeper of the "erdeni munkhe bee" ("precious incorruptible body"), the lama of the Ivolginsky datsan, Bimba Dorzhiev, after the morning service (khural) in the Pandito palace of the Hambo Lama Etigelov, receives a kind of audience with "forever living "saint.

Khambo Lama Damba Ayusheev told ARD about how the technical exchange of information between the incorruptible body of Etigelov and the lamas of the Ivolginsky datsan takes place.

This is how the servants of the datsan describe this process. Having entered a special state, similar to an insight, the Bimba Lama receives "on the subtle plane" information from the Hambo Lama Etigelov and writes it down on a piece of paper. Moreover, the message is transmitted almost every day (if Bimba Lama is not sick) in two languages, Buryat and Tibetan. Allegedly, first Khambo Lama Etigelov himself in the Buryat language describes a situation that needs to be resolved or commented on. And then the sentence itself, a kind of conclusion or conclusion from this situation, is recited in Tibetan!

Acting Hambo Lama Damba Ayusheev said that every morning (until 11:00) he receives from the chief keeper of Lama Bimba Dorzhiev a leaflet with the information on it. For example, today, June 27, 2015, on the opening day of the International Conference, he received the following information: “Two students hold their teacher's hands on both sides. For 15 years he sat in meditation and today left it (in Buryat language - C The answer of the Hambo Lama Etigelov: In his body, speech and consciousness he received siddhi, supernatural abilities (in Tibetan - SB). "

Every day I receive such a gift from Bimba Lama (note - S. B.) and throughout the day I go and think. In the evening I go to my native Twitter (laughs) and post it all in Russian! - Hambo Lama Damba Ayusheev described his day to ARD.

Materials from the personal page of the Hambo Lama Damba Ayusheev on the Twitter social network with daily messages from the "eternally living" Lama Etigelov have already accumulated for quite an impressive brochure. The Buddhist Traditional Sangha managed to publish this book with a breakdown of messages by topic right before the beginning of the international scientific conference on the Etigelov phenomenon. And all the participants of the conference held on June 27-28, 2015, today got acquainted with the most striking "letters" of the saint, set out in the leading report of the scientific forum, which was presented by the head of the BTSD himself.

BUDDHA OF ETIHELS?

The report "The Path of Compassion - the Path of Freedom" by Doctor of Economics Alexander Khachaturov, Director of the Institute of Economics and Management of the Mendeleev University of Chemical Technology (Moscow), said that the Etigelov phenomenon is "proof of the unity of the spiritual and physical worlds." Because the Hambo Lama Etigelov "preserved for us his precious inexhaustible body with the help of spiritual practices."

Thirteen years have passed since the return of the Hambo Lama Etigelov. And I think it is already clear to all of us: Buddha is back! - said from the rostrum of the conference Dr. Alexander Khachaturov, clearly posing as a practicing Buddhist. - Buddha Shakyamuni gave us a teaching, and Buddha Etigelov once again confirmed the truth and relevance of this teaching. Etigelov did not let go of his body, as Buddha Shakyamuni did. His precious, inexhaustible body is an indication that we should seek the answer in the physical world. The purpose of these searches is to find the connection between the physical and spiritual worlds and their unity.

According to Alexander Khachaturov, it is impossible to explain the Etigelov phenomenon within the framework of today's natural science concepts, since his body "is in some energy, material, informational or other exchange with the outside world that is not established by science, that is, it remains alive." The scientist hypothesized that information can be converted into energy and vice versa, and that consciousness is not always associated with the brain.

Spiritual practices have always been human attempts to influence the material world by informational influence, the scientist believes. - Information can determine, set the properties of matter at the stage of structural genesis, that is, influence its structure. The experience of water crystallization under the influence of sound signals with different information content, with varying degrees of harmony or disharmony, symmetry or lack of symmetry, confirms this idea. This means that informational influence can change the properties of a substance on the degree of its formation. And, probably, this approach can be used!

On the first day of the conference, after all the welcoming words and the plenary session, its participants were divided into two scientific sections, where the discussion of the phenomenon of the imperishable body of Dasha-Dorzho Etigelov will continue tomorrow.

A large number of reports will be presented by the guests of the conference from Mongolia. Moreover, both representatives of Mongolian Buddhists and scientists will speak. Among the speakers are also employees of the Institute of Mongolian Studies, Buddhism and Tibetology SB RAS, Buryat State University, East Siberian Academy of Culture, Russian State University for the Humanities, Buddhist University "Dashi Choinhorlin", specialists in neuropathology, medicine, programming, members of the Russian and American Geographical Societies.

LAMA ITIGELOV
(video)

On September 11, 2002, an opening of the sarcophagus with the ashes of Dashi-Dorzho Itigelov (1852-1927) took place in the Ivolginsky Datsan.

The body was removed from the bumkhan - the burial place of a lama in the Kukhe-Zurkhen area in the presence of the leadership and priests of the Buddhist traditional Sangha of Russia. Everyone was surprised that 75 years after the burial, the body of the Great Lama was preserved in excellent condition - in the same lotus position that Itigelov took when he passed away meditating.

BIOGRAPHY.
KP Pandido Khamba Lama Dasha-Dorzho Itigelova, about whom a lot is known. In 1911 he was elected KP Pandito Khambo Lama of the "Lamaist clergy of Eastern Siberia" and remained in this position until 1917. In early February 1913, he attended the celebration of the 300th anniversary of the Romanov dynasty in St. Petersburg and opened a Buddhist temple.

He organized hospitals in the First World War and received many awards from Nicholas II. On the wounded, he donated all his fortune. He was a man who actively lived in the interests of Russia and his people - and probably in this one should also look for the clue to his last amazing deed. Predicting changes in the country in the new millennium, he left his body as a sacrificial message that humanity has no right to lose.

September 2002 marked the two years since the body of the lama was found outside the burial - in the open air. However, the body continues to remain intact. Although the monks watching him note some changes in conditions - spontaneous release of moisture and salts.

Russian scientists brought from Buryatia to Moscow unique body parts of the humbolama Dasha-Dorzho Itigelov. The imperishable great teacher himself is in the Ivolginsky monastery, near Ulan-Ude. And before that, the lama spent 75 years of his life in the grave. This is how my life is. Already preliminary results of the analysis of biomaterial have shown that science first encountered the phenomenon of "immortality" of a long-dead person. Unfortunately, the head of the Buddhist Traditional Sangha of Russia soon banned biomedical research on the monk's body. However, the analysis of the previously obtained results continued. Now Moscow experts have the first conclusions that can be safely called sensational. They shared them with the "Versia" correspondent.

According to scientists involved in the study of the phenomenon, first you need to understand how it became possible that parts of the body of the hambo lama ended up in their hands. After all, the Buryats do not dig graves and even visiting a cemetery is an extremely painful procedure for them. But Itigelov left a clear testament, which the monks carried out. Hence, the lama was sure that he would complete his mission. But which one? To do this, you need to refer to his biography.
One of the legends says that a lama could walk on water.

Dasha-Dorzho Itigelov was the head of the Buddhists of Eastern Siberia from 1911 to 1917. He became famous as a philosopher and physician. He spent all his life in Buryatia and only once traveled outside Siberia to celebrate the 300th anniversary of the Romanov dynasty. During the First World War, he organized hospitals and received several government awards. Legends circulated around his name during his lifetime. One of them says that a monk could, like Christ, walk on water.

The circumstances of the death and burial of the Hambo Lama in 1927 are very unconventional for Buddhism. Surrounded by his disciples, Dasha-Dorzho Itigelov sat in the lotus position and ordered to remove his body from the grave after a while, promising to return alive. Then he began to recite the prayer of accompanying the deceased by himself and plunged into deep meditation. When the disciples considered that all the signs of death were present, the body of the lama in the same lotus position was placed in a cedar sarcophagus and buried in the village cemetery.

The authority of the teacher was indisputable. The students have visited Dasha-Dorzho twice since then: in 1955 and 1973. They were convinced of the incorruptibility of the body, disguised Itigelov and again lowered him into the grave. In September 2002, Itigelov's body was exhumed and removed from the sarcophagus in compliance with all legal procedures. Forensic experts drew up an act in which they noted the integrity of the skin, nails, hair, the softness and elasticity of tissues, and the mobility of the Hambo Lama's joints. It became clear that this was not mummification, embalming, tanning, or even the result of preserving the body in permafrost conditions, but some other state, still unknown to anyone.

Laboratory analysis confirms the monk's body is alive.

“When the scientific group arrived in Buryatia, the current Hambo Lama Damba Ayusheev, fortunately for us, provided us with the necessary biological material, five hairs and a nail cut,” says the head of the project for studying the Itigelov phenomenon, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor of RPU Galina Ershova. Now we have completed a series of possible analyzes of the provided samples. In the forensic laboratory they were carried out by Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Viktor Zvyagin, a world-class figure in this kind of expertise. In particular, he examined the remains of members the royal family ".

Initially, it was assumed that organic matter, living protein compounds in the body of a llama would be destroyed, and tissues consolidated due to inorganics, as is the case in mummies. It turned out quite the opposite! Infrared spectrophotometry showed that the protein fractions of Itigelov's cells have in vivo characteristics. Professor Zvyagin, a man of great experience, was amazed.

Galina Ershova did not immediately answer the direct question of the correspondent whether the Hambo Lama is alive or dead.

I am afraid of hurting the feelings of believers. Now Itigelov, of course, is not alive, because he cannot get up and walk. But, leaving for another world in a state of meditation, he plunged not into death, but into another state. Research results suggest that the llama artificially injected itself into suspended animation. This is what happens to certain types of living organisms under stress. But how can this state be achieved? Stop breathing, oxygen exchange? If there is no oxygen, a chain reaction of destruction begins in the body. Or did Itigelov use some kind of superficial, as yogis call it, "light breathing" that lasted decades? By the way, in the will of the lama, the key figure for Buddhists is 75 years. She is tied to the stages of Buddha's enlightenment. ”That is, he was buried alive?
Undoubtedly. It turns out that he was also alive all this time in the grave?

Yes, I believe that was the case. The state of Hambo Lama Itigelov changed after he was removed from the grave, practically before our very eyes. It was just that they did not pay attention to some obvious signs. There is such a phenomenon: at the time of death, the body dramatically loses moisture. And at Itigelov, when he was removed from the grave and was outside the box, a sharp outflow of moisture from the body began. The glass cube in which the monks at the monastery put him suddenly fogged up. This was the moment of the final departure of the great teacher. And at the same time a triumph. After all, he returned alive, as promised!

This was exactly the idea of the lama. I don't know if he believed that he could make the body obey itself again: come to life, stand up. Unlikely. Dasha-Dorzho was a doctor and understood perfectly well what muscle atrophy is without movement to restore their functionality is almost impossible. But he hoped to remain in a state of hibernation meditation until he was removed from the sarcophagus. Itigelov entered a state of suspended animation to prove the infinity of spiritual strength. He knew he would meet the agreed deadline. I sincerely admire him.

"Golden devotees" are not uncommon in Tibet.

Now Galina Ershova is looking for analogues of the "Itigelov phenomenon" in the Buddhist southeastern religious space. There is a version that the dried figures of meditating lamas, covered with either varnish or gold, could be phenomena of this order by living people in a trance.

The unique phenomenon suggests that the Buddhist practice of "meditating on the teacher" is connected with this, the professor continues. Apparently, these people were forever connected with the information space, or, in Buddhist terms, with the void. But they were not dead, but physically and spiritually belonging to our world. They became a kind of resonators that helped monks in a trance to enter the general information field, to touch the understanding of the cosmos. To "meditate on someone" means to fully identify with a spiritually strong person, and only then he transfers the seeker to other worlds and spaces.

The bodies of these ascetics can be seen in the temples of Tibet and Southeast Asia. Probably, at the dawn of history, they traveled the same spiritual path as Itigelov, before leaving for physical death. However, there is no reliable evidence. Itigelov is the only phenomenon scientifically described. According to Ershova, he has completed his task. He was a man who actively lived in the interests of his people, probably in this one should also look for the reason for his last amazing act. Predicting changes in the country in the new millennium, he left his body as a sacrificial message that humanity has no right to lose.

How he managed to do this is still a mystery. Now a second expedition, funded by the "Unknown Planet" project, is being prepared, already to Tibet and Southeast Asia, in order to study on the spot the questions of psychophysiology, meditation, the practice of controlling one's own body, yoga technique, breathing. Experts believe that it is necessary at least to try to understand the abilities inherent in a person, which lead to such a state of the body, which is observed in Itigelov, and to express them in scientific terms. At the same time, the soil and geology of the region will be studied. There is already an agreement and with NASA the Americans will provide space images of the terrain in different ranges. For the purity of the study, it is necessary to know if there are any radiation and soil anomalies in the area of the former burial of the hambo lama.

Itigelov can return the soul to the body.

Currently, the body of Dasha-Dorzho Itigelov is located in the Ivolginsky Datsan, the center of Russian Buddhists, 30 kilometers from Ulan-Ude. "For us, the phenomenon of Itigelov is that he made atheists doubt his unbelief, removed hesitation in their correctness from doubters, strengthened believers in the strength of the spirit. He left a message without saying a word," the current head of the Buddhist traditional sangha of Russia believes. Hambo Lama Damba Ayusheev.

Buddhists still regard Itigelov as a living person in a special state of consciousness and corporeality. They believe that neither knowledge nor a sharp mind can make a person like Dasha-Dorzho. To do this, you need to experience great compassion for all living beings, become a bodhisattva "an ideal being who is filled with compassion for all that exists, but does not want to taste freedom until all others are not free ...".

And despite the fact that the official Buddhist church denies the possibility of returning the lama's soul to the body, the monks believe that Dasha-Dorzho can come to life if desired. The Dalai Lama adheres to the same point of view.

If you still don’t believe in miracles, it’s time for you to visit Buryatia: there, in the Ivolginsky Datsan, 40 minutes from Ulan-Ude, under a glass cover sits a man who died 86 years ago.

Sits in the lotus position with a straight back, supported by no one or anything. Scientists have no idea why the body not only does not decompose, but for some reason also exudes a fragrance. And most importantly, why anyone, even the very last skeptic, is in awe and at the same time feels a huge surge of mental strength. Buddhists know that Dashi-Dorzho Itigelov, their beloved Khambo Lama, as he once promised, returned to the world of the living and again began to work miracles.

One of the main shrines of the Ivolginsky datsan is the “bodhi” tree, or banyan tree, which is revered by all Buddhists - according to legend, it was under this tree that Buddha achieved full enlightenment. For this tree, a special greenhouse was even built in the monastery. Anyone can find healing here, spiritual or physical - monks treat parishioners with the help of Tibetan medicines, conduct ritual rituals.

There are rumors that the datsan can also give healing - they say that the incorruptible body of Khambo Lama Itigelov, who can be worshiped in the Ivolginsky datsan, has such a miraculous gift. It is kept in the Temple of the Pure Land, which attracts Buddhists from all over the world. As the legend says, Lama Dasha Dorzho Itigelov, already a deep old man, sat in the lotus position and left his body at the beginning of the last century, ordering his disciples to bury him, but took him out of the grave when he was 70 years old. The disciples followed his instructions and today, more than eighty years after his "death," Lama Itigelov is still sitting in the lotus position in the main dugan (temple) of the Ivolginsky datsan.

The incorruptible body of the former Head of the Buddhists of Russia Lama Dasha Dorzho Itigelov, who died 80 years ago, is one of the cases of energy-informational transformation of the highest level of the practice of self-development of the Spirit. Experts' research demonstrates amazing results: Itigelova has all the signs of a living person - soft skin, movable joints, and weak brain activity is also noted. Once every six months, the Lama even gains or loses up to half a kilogram of weight.

On strictly defined days, long queues of people wishing to touch the shrine line up to the lama, "seated" under a glass cover, according to rumors, healing and fulfillment of desires are not uncommon here.

Lama's blessing.

Who is Lama Itigelov? In 1911-1917. this man was the head of all Buddhists in Buryatia. But people of various confessions came to see him, including Nicholas II himself with his family: the fame of the healing abilities of Dasha-Dorzho Itigelov reached the brilliant St. Petersburg. But the Khambo Lama did not begin to tell the sovereign about what a terrible end awaited him and his entire family. What for? You can't escape fate ... He knew in advance what times were coming, what to prepare for. He exhorted other lamas to leave Russia - to be saved. At the same time, he himself was in no hurry to go anywhere, being in absolute calm: "They will not have time to take me." In general, he knew a lot and was able to, this unusual lama. He wrote a great many works on Buddhism. Thoroughly studied Tibetan medicine and left a huge treatise on pharmacology. All Buryatia hunted for his blessing. This is understandable - how could it be otherwise, when all the soldiers who received Itigelov's blessing before leaving for the Russian-Japanese war returned home safe and sound? He could also walk on water, move in space and predict future events. But most importantly, he managed to subdue time!

Good wishes to the outgoing

In 1917, he resigned as the head of the Buddhists of Russia and for 10 years improved his spirit. On June 15, 1927, he called all his disciples and told them: “Come to me in 30 years - look at my body. And in 75 years I will return to you. " The pupils of the teacher's circle stood confused. They were even more surprised when he sat down in the lotus position and asked them to read the Buddhist prayer "Good wishes to the departing one." They refused - after all, this prayer is read only to the dead. Then Itigelov himself pronounced it and at the same second stopped breathing. The body of the lama was placed in a cedar coffin and buried. And they dug it out 30 years later - in secret from the authorities. The monks made sure that the body remained incorrupt, performed the necessary rituals, changed clothes and buried again. The second time the monks were convinced of the safety of the body in 1973, but Itigelov was removed from the ground only on September 10, 2002 - exactly 75 years after his death - in accordance with the will of the teacher. It was then that the most interesting thing began - for people far from Buddhism, of course. The forensic expert who was present at the exhumation examined the body and asked to convene a commission: he had never seen such a thing before! After all, the lama was not only recognizable externally - he retained all the signs of a living being: he remained warm and he still had soft, elastic skin. A man who spent 75 years in a coffin had ears, eyes, fingers, teeth, eyelashes with eyebrows in place! All his joints were bent! Itigelov was transferred to the Ivolginsky datsan, specially built for him, dressed in new clothes and put under a glass cap, which, if it protects from anything, then only from dust. Buddhists did not undertake any other tricks to save the lama. But since then, the body has not undergone almost any changes - unless the skin has become a little rougher. Lama Itigelov still sits in the lotus position and even gains weight from time to time - up to 2 kg per year, and then loses weight. The lama is not an exhibit, Buddhists treat it as if it were alive, and therefore only Itigelov's fallen hair, skin scales and a tiny fragment of a nail fell to the "torn apart" of scientists. Researchers from the Russian Center for Forensic Medicine of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation had enough of this to admit the incredible: “The condition of the tissues is such that it fully corresponds to the lifetime characteristics. We are not aware of cases of such preservation, this is a kind of scientific mystery ... In many ways, the body of the Hamba Lama gives the impression of the body of a living person ... "
