Since then they lived in love and harmony. They took monasticism. They did a lot of good things for their people. And they died on the same day. Three centuries later, Peter and Fevronia were canonized as saints. Now their relics are at the monastery of the Church of the Holy Trinity. And the saints themselves are considered the patrons of families.

However, rumors reached the prince that a girl lives in the city of Ryazan, who is endowed with the gift of healing the most terrible diseases. Trying to get rid of suffering, the prince sent envoys to Ryazan so that they would find the girl and persuade her to take up treatment.
The envoys soon found the daughter of the beekeeper Efrosinya, about whose extraordinary abilities the most incredible rumors circulated. And indeed, the envoys saw that the girl had the ability to talk with forest animals and heal the most terrible diseases.
Having learned what was the matter, Efrosinya agreed to help the young prince, but only if the healed young man made her his wife. The prince agreed to this condition and arrived in Ryazan.
Efrosinya prepared potions and successfully cured the guy from the disease. But now the prince had doubts about the reasonableness of his promise. In those days, the division of people into classes was very strict, so the prince could not marry the daughter of a beekeeper.
The prince decided to break this word, and left for Murom. However, the disease soon returned, and he again had to turn to Efrosinya for help. This time the young man had to keep his promise, and he married the girl.
The noble people of Murom did not like the young princess, because she was a commoner. The condition was set before the prince: either he leaves his wife, or abdicates the throne. Prince David preferred the second option, renouncing the principality.
David did not like life as a commoner, however, he was very supported by his wife, who urged him to rely on the will of the Lord. Pretty soon the boyars realized that they were unfair to the prince, after his departure, things in the city began to go badly. Every now and then internecine skirmishes broke out, trade fell into decay, the people became impoverished.
In order to improve things in the city, it was decided to return the princely title to David and ask him to return to the place of the ruler. Efrosinya was a wise woman, so her advice helped her husband a lot in his hard work.
The aged spouses decided to take tonsure, naturally in different monasteries. Then they got their new names - Peter and Fevronya. The couple fervently prayed to the Lord that he would send them death on the same day, so that neither of them would have to experience the death of the other. They even prepared one large coffin, bequeathing them to be buried together in one grave.
The couple actually died on the same day. However, the monks considered it wrong to bury them in the same grave. Preparing for the burial ceremony, the monks placed the deceased in different dominoes. However, the next day they were surprised to see that the bodies were in a common coffin. Deciding that this was the will of the Lord, the monks did not separate the spouses even after their death, burying them together.
