It is passive hope that takes a person away from his own activity and responsibility for his life, while hope requires action and achieving goals. rational faith, or the ability to discern the essence of phenomena. Linking hope with the present makes it more effective also because it saves from the form of alienation - ignorant adventurism.
On the contrary, in religious and philosophical discourses on hope, the element of irrationality inherent in it is especially emphasized.
