The patriarch believes in children. The creed prayer is one of the main Orthodox prayers.

Recently I had to observe such a scene in the temple.
A little aside from the canon, two elderly women clashed in a psychological duel. One, older, defended the offerings to the canon, the other, younger, with two bags stuffed with all sorts of things in her hands, rushed to large apples seductively blushing on the canon.
- I won't give you anything, Manyasha!
- Well, give at least one apple, sorry for you, or what?
- Go away, Manyasha, you already have plenty of food.
- But I don’t have apples, give me an apple, because today is my birthday!
- So what, - her rival responded, - I also recently turned seventy years old, and no one congratulated me ...
This scene came to mind on the way from the temple. I imagined that I was 70 years old, it was my birthday, but those who once remembered this had already died or had forgotten about such an insignificant event. Of course, this is nonsense, a trifle, but why is it so sad at heart?
I suddenly caught myself thinking that I don’t know anyone in our church personally. There are several people whose faces are familiar to me, but we don't even say hello. How they live, what problems they have, whether they need help, it never occurred to me. There is, for example, an elderly married couple, their son's face is covered with a red rash, like a crust. When I first saw him as a baby in the arms of his parents, my heart sank. I only asked the name of the child to remember in prayer. But to my shame, I remember him only when I see him in church.
I remember once, out of curiosity, I went to our temple when it was just being built. The whole room was in scaffolding. In the narthex stood a small group of people headed by a priest. Apparently, they had just finished praying together. In their eyes and facial expressions, I suddenly felt that they were close, dear people, like one family. Something invisible united them with each other. Then I even envied them.
Then this community dissolved into a "sea" of new parishioners. Everything returned to normal - everyone is a stranger to each other, in the temple only for prayer, confession, communion. All this is good, but is a normal parish enough for life? Some of us even manage to take communion by running into the church in the last minutes before the removal of the Holy Gifts.
Isn't this a sign that the spirit of consumption has quietly, “along the wall” entered not only into our hearts, but also into restored and rebuilt churches? And as another proof of this - constant irritation novice, "strangers", stupidly "hanging out" with candles in their hands and asking naive questions. I noticed this irritation not only among parishioners “with experience”, but also among those who are “behind the box”.
I wonder if there were not 700-800 people in our parish, but only 20-30 people, would parishioners and church workers treat each other with more warmth, attention and participation? Perhaps there are parishes where this is the case? Where Christ love, unity and mutual understanding apply to all?

The creed is not in the proper sense a prayer - an appeal to God, the Mother of God, angels or saints. This is a concise and precise summary of the basics Christian doctrine drawn up and approved at the 1st and 2nd Ecumenical Councils. The whole Creed consists of twelve members, and each of them contains a special truth, or, as it is also called, the dogma of our Orthodox faith: 1st member speaks of God the Father, 2nd to 7th members speak of God the Son, 8th - of God the Holy Spirit, 9th - of the Church, 10th - of baptism, 11th and 12th - about the resurrection of the dead and about eternal life. The creed is read among the morning and evening prayers, and is also sung by the faithful during the Liturgy of the Faithful - the most important and important part of the Divine Liturgy. Therefore, it is always included in prayer books as a prayer.

Symbol of faith. Prayers.

Symbol of faith- one of the main prayers for Orthodox Christians. It is in it that the main provisions of the Orthodox faith are contained.

The Creed was approved at the first and second Ecumenical Councils (this is a meeting of teachers of the Orthodox Church to discuss and accept the truths of the dogma) in the 4th century. For this reason this prayer also called Niceo-Tsaregradskaya (Nicaea and Constantinople - two cities in which the first and second Ecumenical Councils were held). The first council approved seven members of the Nicene-Tsaregrad Symbol, and the second council approved the last five.

Importance of the Creed lies in the fact that it truly and truly reflects the essence of Orthodoxy - everything that every layman should believe in. By pronouncing the lines of this prayer, we briefly “remind” ourselves the main thing in the Christian doctrine.

In total, the dogma has twelve parts, each of which has one sentence. Each member of the Nikeo-Tsaregradsky symbol begins with the word "I believe." The first part speaks of faith in God the Father, who created our world; from the second part to the seventh - about the life of Jesus Christ on earth: about the suffering at the crucifixion on the cross and about the resurrection. The eighth sentence talks about the Holy Spirit; in the ninth - about the Church, which is the main holy place of solitude of people and God; in the tenth - about holy baptism and in the last two parts - about the immortality of man, as well as about eternal life.

The Creed is one of the three prayers that are included in the brief prayer rule Reverend Seraphim of Sarov. In his opinion, with the help of this dogma, the prayers "Our Father" and "Our Lady of the Virgin, rejoice" one can achieve a spiritual ideal. Therefore, the Creed must be understood by all Orthodox Christians.

Prayer Creed read in morning and evening prayer rules, and is also sung in the temple together with parishioners during the Liturgy of the Faithful (this is one of the parts of the Divine Liturgy - morning church service). Although the Creed does not contain appeals to God, the Mother of God, the Guardian Angel or the saints, as well as thanksgiving or repentance, it is considered a prayer and is found in any prayer book.

For the sacrament of baptism, the Creed is the basic provision. The godmother or godfather needs to know this prayer, because it is read at the entrance to the temple of God and in the process of the sacrament itself. The clergyman reads a prayer at the very beginning and end of the ritual. During home preparation for baptism, it is worth remembering that if the baby is a girl, then the godmother reads the Creed, and if the boy, then the godfather. If an adult is preparing for the sacrament of baptism, then he reads this prayer himself. For this reason, it is essential that at least one of the godparents memorize the Creed. Although the temple may allow you to read a prayer from your own workpiece or from a prayer book, but in this case you need to be careful and think about the meaning.

The creed of Orthodox Christians strengthens the spiritual strength of a person, which means that it should be read as often as possible.

Prayer symbol of faith "I believe in the One God the Father Almighty"

The "creed" is the greatest christian prayer which outlines the basics Orthodox dogma. This is one of the main prayers that is read at any worship service.

"Symbol of faith" - one of the main Orthodox prayers

This prayer was composed at the First and Second Ecumenical Councils. Prayer appeal consists of parts: the first seven parts were written by the holy fathers at the First Ecumenical Council in the city of Nicaea in 325, and the remaining five parts are an addition to the Second Ecumenical Council held at Constantinople in 381.

The uniqueness of this prayer lies in the fact that it reminds all Christians of what washed away their faith. This prayer service in the temple is the main one for all branches of Christianity: Orthodox, Catholics and Protestants.

The Importance of Prayer in the Life of Every True Believer

This prayer is an affirmation that itself is a great great mystery. No one can say with accuracy whether a person acquires faith during his lifetime or whether it is given to him by the Almighty. There is a constant debate in Christianity about what awaits after death for people born in a different culture and believing in something else. It can be unequivocally said that if a person adheres to universal human rules during his lifetime and lives with love and sincerity in his heart, then the doors to the Lord's Paradise are open to him. Every person deserves it, regardless of their beliefs. The main thing is that goodness reigns in the soul. And this choice is made by each person independently.

Prayers "Symbol of Faith" is a means of uniting all believers, and this is its great mystery. She seems to create one big family out of all people, and directs everyone into people together to the Light of God. In her in short form everything that a believer should remember is transmitted.

According to its text, to believe means not to accept anything that the enemies of Christianity assert. Although no one has seen God during their lifetime, one must believe that this will definitely happen in the future. Each of us must also believe that after death, a bright future awaits us. heavenly kingdom and not the cold silent emptiness. And it gives strength to live and enjoy every minute. This is what the word “I believe” emphasizes in prayer.

Mandatory prayer at the baptism of a child

This prayer must be read at baptism. She plays the role of an oath in this rite. If an adult is baptized, then he reads it himself. With prayerful words, a person at baptism swears to the Lord in accepting faith and God himself in his heart.

When an unreasonable baby is baptized, the prayer is said by one of godparents. Moreover, it is customary that when a boy is baptized, a godmother's prayer is read, and when a girl is baptized, the godfather must pronounce the prayer test. It is desirable that the godparents confess and take communion before the baptismal ceremony.

The importance of godparents in a child's life cannot be overestimated. These people are a witness to the adoption by the born of the Holy Faith of Christ. From now on, they must support him in everything. life path. And if, by the will of the Lord, something happens to the parents, then the godparent must compensate the child for this loss and take care of him all his life.

You should know that it is not necessary to have two godparents. This is more of a folk interpretation than church rule. But on the other hand, it is very important that the godfather is necessarily a Christian. Otherwise, the baptism ceremony will be invalid.

As a result of all that has been said, parents should approach the choice of a godfather or godmother for their child thoroughly. It can be a relative or a stranger, but it is very important that he is close to you in spirit and you can trust him with your child.

When to read the "Symbol of Faith" Prayer

This prayer must be read at every worship service. Therefore, the person who at least once attended it heard it. All believers, as a rule, sing it together. The prayer is so strong that it is allowed to read it not only in the original, but also in Russian, as close as possible to the original text. It is absolutely not necessary to memorize the text, the main thing is to put all the sincerity of your soul into every uttered phrase.

The “Symbol of Faith” prayer should be read for the coming dream and in morning hour. It allows you to support true faith in the soul of a person and will not allow you to turn off the true path, succumbing to the devil's temptations. In addition, to strengthen faith, it is recommended to pronounce the prayer text in any difficult life situation.

If you read this prayer before going to bed, then you can forget about all the failures that happened the past day and rethink the current situation. That is, it will be possible the next day to find new more right decisions. In the morning, this prayer helps to properly tune in to a new day. It is also recommended to read this prayer in case of a serious illness, but this should be done only after the main prayer.

The prayer "creed" can not only be read, but also listened to. This does not diminish its effect. The main thing is to think about her phrases and be aware of them. In no case should such a prayerful audio text be a background to any activity.

Interpretation of the prayer "Symbol of Faith"

Parts of the Creed Prayer make the following important statements:

  • Part 1 - about God the Father. It says that a person believes in God the Father and considers all the world a gift from him.
  • Parts 2-7 are about God the Son. Here it is stated that he is born of God and is his continuation. The Son of God came down from heaven for the sake of people. He had to endure terrible torments during the crucifixion, be buried and resurrect, and then again ascend to heaven. Since then, the Son of God has taken a place in heaven next to the Father. The reign of the Lord is endless and he will always judge both the living and the dead, since he is the Creator of everything.
  • Part 8 is about God the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit breathes life into all the creations of the Lord and speaks to people through the prophets.
  • Part 9 is about the Church. It contains statements that every person should believe in one church.
  • Part 10 - about Baptism. This section celebrates the sacrament of Baptism.
  • Parts 11-12 are about the resurrection of the dead and about eternal life.

“I believe in one God the Father…” – this phrase is the basis of Christianity, the beginning of all beginnings. It is the Father who gives life to man and loves his creation throughout life. In addition, he takes care of him and takes part in all matters. The father forgives mistakes and wishes the child to achieve prosperity in life. God the Father shows love to all living beings, for he is their Creator. On the other hand, obedience and filial trust in the Father in everything is natural. God is the Creator of the whole world, of everything that surrounds man, visible and invisible. The world was created by Divine wisdom, therefore the Almighty is responsible for the fact that everything in it should turn out well.

The Son of God is the second Person of the Holy Trinity. He is the true God, and he is named by the Archangel Gabriel Jesus himself, that is, the Savior. Christ means the Anointed One, and in ancient times this was how kings and rulers were often called. Jesus Christ is the Son of God, the Only Begotten, he was born, not created. This confirms the boundless love of the Creator for His creatures.

The Son of God, came to earth from heaven for the salvation of the entire human race. The Son of God is omnipresent, he is both in heaven and on earth. He was before, but invisible, but to strengthen the Christian faith, he appeared in the flesh before the human race. He became a man without ceasing to be God. The birth of Christ took place under the assistance of the Holy Spirit, Mother God's Son as in conception, after conception, and at birth itself, she remained a chaste Virgin who dedicated her life to God. Jesus Christ was crucified for all human sins and thereby delivered us from them, giving hope to each of us for the salvation of the soul and eternal life.

In the text of the prayer, Jesus Christ is called the Savior of the human race. And the Virgin Mary is Holy Mother of God, Queen of Heaven. She is honored Orthodox Church above all saints and angels, as she is the Mother of the Lord God.

Each Orthodox Christian must believe that by his crucifixion on the cross, Jesus Christ paid for human sins and did this for the salvation of all people on earth. Such a conviction will make it possible to understand and accept the sinlessness of Jesus Christ and his sincere God's love to people.

The resurrection of Christ gives people faith in life after death. Therefore, one of the main christian holiday is an Happy Easter. On this day, joy and hope appear in the souls of people that righteous life lead them to God's kingdom.

The Holy Spirit is also true God. He is Life-Giving, therefore the Holy Trinity gives life to all creatures, and at the same time fills people with additional spirituality. The Holy Spirit comes from the Father, so he must be glorified and worshiped. You can be partaker of the Holy Spirit if you adhere to the sacraments provided for in Holy Scripture and pray earnestly, recognizing the holy Christian faith. The Holy Spirit always communicates with people through prophets.

The Church founded by Jesus Christ on earth is one and every Christian must believe in its holiness. It is she who allows sinners to repent, receive forgiveness, and then follow the righteous path leading to the Kingdom of God. In the temple, the soul of a person is united with God, so every believer should, if possible, attend divine services. Church is general concept Orthodox faith. It includes the totality of believers living and dead, who are united among themselves by faith in God, true love and the most holy sacraments. Therefore, it can be argued that every Orthodox Christian is a part of the Church.

The prayer mentions the sacrament of human baptism, which is equally important for both adults and children. This event opens the door for a person to the Church of Christ, which accepts him, and God will grant him protection. Only baptized people can participate in all the Sacraments. This prayer at baptism must be pronounced by one of the godparents. From the moment of baptism, you can count on God's grace as well as repentance for sins.

The prayer speaks of a general resurrection. According to the Holy Scripture, at the time of the second coming of Jesus Christ, every second deceased will be resurrected, taking on a new look, which will be endowed with deep spirituality and incorruptibility of the body. Changes will affect the bodies and all living at the time of the coming of the Lord God.

Christ's judgment is obligatory for every person. At the same time, the righteous will find endless joy, reunited with the Lord God.

The Creed is a Concise and Accurate Statement of Basic Truths Christian faith which every Orthodox Christian needs to know. In the short and precise words of the Creed, we confess, that is, we openly declare what we believe in. No one, believing otherwise, diverging in anything from the Creed, has the right to call himself an Orthodox Christian. And the Symbol arose precisely in the fight against heresies, with wrong opinions about God and the world. The symbol was compiled and approved at the 1st (Nicene, in 325) and 2nd (Constantinople, in 381) Ecumenical Councils (which is why it is also called the Nicene-Tsaregrad Creed).

So, the Creed is summary the foundations of the Christian faith, the basic Christian dogmas, the framework beyond which non-Orthodoxy is already.

But this "list" of dogmas is built in the first person, personally:

I believe into one God the Father...

And in one Lord Jesus Christ...

and in the Holy Spirit, the Lord...

into one Holy, Catholic and Apostolic

I confess one baptism for the remission of sins.

tea resurrection of the dead, and the life of the age to come.

Symbol of faith - personal confession faith of the Orthodox Christian. This is the confession for what and how we live or should live, the most important thing in life, in the world. This is what God through the Church tells us and what we confess before God and people. Therefore, the Creed is a prayer, an interview of the soul with God and God with the soul.

As a prayer, the Creed is very difficult: every time you pronounce (at least mentally) these truths, you must consciously accept them in your heart, strive to live by them. But it is a compass, without which you will go astray from the road that leads to life, and this compass must be checked at least daily. That's why it's included in the daily cell rule. It is also included in the shortest prayer rule for the laity taught to us. Reverend Seraphim. You can't live a day without it.

Each word of the Creed is extremely deep and capacious; Brief explanations cannot enter into this depth (which is why they are not given in this book). The explanation of the Creed constitutes the main part - "On Faith" - "Large Christian Catechism" by St. Philaret of Moscow, a book that every Orthodox Christian should know well.

Saint Theophan the Recluse in his letters gave advice on how to overcome doubts about the truths of the faith. These lines have direct relationship to the role of the Creed in our spiritual life and show how prayerful perception of it should be.

“Imagine the truth and pray for it, during prayer turn it around in your mind and make up prayers from it. The moment will come when this truth will enter the heart and embrace the whole being of the soul, nourishing it and cheering it up. This is the affinity of the soul with the truth; after this, doubts can no longer shake her. They can come in memory, but they are far from the soul, like a conversation or a clatter behind a wall.

“In order to hold the truth in the heart, this is how it should be done. Take any truth and more fully understand in your mind how it is confessed, and then pray to the Lord that He write it in your heart, as it is confessed ... All our prayers come from dogmas. The Lord came to earth for our salvation. As you confess this truth, pray, “Lord! As then, walking the earth, you healed all sorts of ailments, cleansed the lepers, gave sight to the blind, now come to me and enlighten the eyes of my mind, and remove the leprosy of sins from me. So it is with regard to all truth. When all truths fall into the heart, then all doubts will end. They themselves will bounce like arrows from someone who is covered with armor. This means, in other words, is - to taste the truth, to rejoice in it, to remember it with consolation and sweetness, and to warmly rotate it in the mind. Help the Lord to achieve this!”

At the word symbol- multiple values; so it was in Greek, from which this word came, and in Russian. This word has grown especially philosophical reflections(about the symbol in philosophical meaning hundreds of volumes of books have been written. Here are different definitions from different dictionaries: what serves symbol any concept; in science - the same as a sign; in art, in a broad sense, a symbol is an image in the aspect of its symbolism and a sign endowed with all the organicity and inexhaustibility of the image; full picture, essence in few words or signs. The original Greek word means: junction, crossing, connection, merger, meeting, articulation. It also meant an identification mark by which one could recognize each other more accurately than by a password: a coin or bone was split into two halves; if the presented half was completely suitable for yours, it was clear that in front of you was exactly that person.

The creed is not in the proper sense a prayer - an appeal to God, the Mother of God, angels or saints. This is a brief and accurate presentation of the foundations of the Christian doctrine, compiled and approved at the 1st and 2nd Ecumenical Councils. The entire Creed consists of twelve members, and each of them contains a special truth, or, as it is also called, the dogma of our Orthodox faith: the 1st member speaks of God the Father, the 2nd to 7th members speak of God the Son , 8th - about God the Holy Spirit, 9th - about the Church, 10th - about baptism, 11th and 12th - about the resurrection of the dead and eternal life. The creed is read in the number of morning and evening prayers, and is also sung by the faithful during the Liturgy of the Faithful - the most important and important part of the Divine Liturgy. Prayer symbol of faith "I believe in the One God the Father Almighty"

The "Symbol of Faith" is the greatest Christian prayer, which sets out the foundations of the Orthodox dogma. This is one of the main prayers that is read at any worship service.

"Symbol of faith" - one of the main Orthodox prayers

This prayer was composed at the First and Second Ecumenical Councils. The prayer appeal consists of parts: the first seven parts were written by the holy fathers at the First Ecumenical Council in the city of Nicaea in 325, and the remaining five parts are additions to the Second Ecumenical Council held in Constantinople in 381.

Prayers "Symbol of Faith" is a means of uniting all believers, and this is its great secret. She seems to create one big family out of all people, and directs everyone into people together to the Light of God. It conveys in brief form everything that a believing person should remember.

According to its text, to believe means not to accept anything that the enemies of Christianity assert. Although no one has seen God during their lifetime, one must believe that this will definitely happen in the future. Each of us must also believe that after death, a bright heavenly kingdom awaits us, and not a cold, silent emptiness.

When an unreasonable baby is baptized, the prayer is said by one of the godparents.

From this moment on, they must support him throughout his life path. And if, by the will of the Lord, something happens to the parents, then the godparent must compensate the child for this loss and take care of him all his life.

You should know that it is not necessary to have two godparents. This is more of a folk interpretation than a church rule.

The “Symbol of Faith” prayer should be read for the coming dream and in the morning. It allows you to maintain true faith in the soul of a person and will not allow you to turn off the true path, succumbing to the devil's temptations. In addition, to strengthen faith, it is recommended to pronounce the prayer text in any difficult life situation.

If you read this prayer before going to bed, then you can forget about all the failures that happened the past day and rethink the current situation. That is, it will be possible to find new, more correct solutions the next day.

It says that a person believes in God the Father and considers the whole world around him a gift from him.

The birth of Christ took place under the assistance of the Holy Spirit, the Mother of the Son of God, as in conception, after conception, and in the very birth, remained a chaste Virgin who dedicated her life to God. Jesus Christ was crucified for all human sins and thereby delivered us from them, giving hope to each of us for the salvation of the soul and eternal life.

In the text of the prayer, Jesus Christ is called the Savior of the human race. And the Virgin Mary is the Most Holy Theotokos, the Queen of Heaven. She is honored by the Orthodox Church above all saints and angels, since she is the Mother of the Lord God.

Every Orthodox Christian must believe that by his crucifixion on the cross, Jesus Christ paid for human sins and did this for the salvation of all people on earth. Such a conviction will make it possible to understand and accept the sinlessness of Jesus Christ and his sincere God's love for people.

The resurrection of Christ gives people faith in life after death. Therefore, one of the main Christian holidays is Easter. On this day, joy and hope appear in the souls of people that a righteous life will lead them to God's kingdom.

The Church is the general concept of the Orthodox faith.

This event opens the door for a person to the Church of Christ, which accepts him, and God grants him protection. Only baptized people can participate in all the Sacraments. This prayer at baptism must be pronounced by one of the godparents. From the moment of baptism, one can count on God's grace, as well as on repentance for sins.

Many people know this, at first glance, a difficult and long prayer. After all, it is able to strengthen faith and bring thoughts into the right state. The main thing is to read it from the heart.

This prayer is read in churches at every divine service. And let it not be taught as often as, for example, Our Father prayer, but for those who attend church even occasionally, it is better to remember this prayer. “I believe” is almost on a par with the Our Father in importance and effectiveness, and within the walls of the church you will repeatedly hear the words of this prayer text. Otherwise, it is called the "Symbol of Faith"
