Susan atkins interview. The paradox of religious consciousness

This world is so arranged that if it arrives somewhere, then at the same time it decreases somewhere. Someone is born - someone dies, someone sits with a glass of cocktail in a sun lounger and admires the sunset, and at this time, on the other side of the earth, someone is skinned alive.

That's all I'm for. For example, on August 9, 1969, Susan Atkins (Susan Denise Atkins) & associates killed a pregnant Sharon Tate (Sharon Marie Tate).
Pictures are clickable.

The story is ancient, but incomprehensible to me personally by how three juvenile bitches managed to deal with adult men?
On the evening of August 8, 1969, Sharon Tate and three of her friends gathered together in a mansion on Cielo Drive in the Bel Air section of Los Angeles, owned by Roman Polanski and his wife.

The company is interesting.
Jay Sebring, 35, famous hair stylist and part-time former lover Tate.

26-year-old Abigail Folger, daughter of a millionaire, heiress to a huge fortune as a coffee merchant.

37-year-old Polish director Wojtek Frykowski and part-time lover of Abigail Folger, who had intended to leave him by that time. In the photo he is with Sharon and with Abigail.

When their mini-party came to an end, they went to their rooms.

Meanwhile, four “angels of death” arrived in the prestigious Benedict Canyon area of Los Angeles and stopped at the top of the hill, from where the highway and a large mansion were clearly visible. Tex, Kathy, Linda and Sadie. To prevent the owners from alerting the police, Charles Watson (Tex) cut the telephone wires, climbed through the window and let the girls into the house.
In the house they found four people: two men and two women, one of whom was pregnant. After the killers demanded all the money from them, as Manson demanded, they staged a brutal massacre.
Sharon was killed with sixteen stabs. Striking Susan Atkins (Sadie) claimed it was like an orgasm (s). Sharon Tate's belly dome had an X scrawled on it.

Stephen Parent, the mansion manager's eighteen-year-old guest, was the first to be killed. He was stabbed four times. He was simply unlucky - on the night of the murder he visited his friend, the young concierge Polansky, and when he was about to leave, he became the first victim of the killers. And his friend was in his house in the distance, listening to loud rock music through headphones and the sounds of the massacre did not reach him.

Jay Sebring got shot and stabbed. Their necks with Sharon were tied with the same rope.

Abigail Folger, 26, was stabbed to death on her front lawn as she tried to escape.

Beating Wojtek Frykowski with a club, Watson whispered with rapture: "I am the devil and have come to do the devil's business." When the director lost consciousness, the killer stabbed him with a knife.

As Susan Atkins left the house, she soaked the sheet with Sharon's blood and wrote the word "Pig" on the wall.

A couple of days ago, Susan Atkins, a member of the Charles Manson "Family", who participated in the massacre on Cielo Drive, Los Angeles, died on August 9, 1969 in the hospital of the California Institute for Women prison.
When it became known last year that she had been diagnosed with brain cancer, I waited with interest: are Americans so deeply mired in tolerance in order to release this woman? But no, they still think well: in early September, for the 18th time in these forty years, she was denied release. It was all over for Susan, in accordance with the popular Indian concept of karma among Manson's wards - whatever you throw away will come back to you. Boomerang.
Susan Atkins spoke with pleasure about the moment of the first stab of the victim with a knife: "It was such a wonderful feeling that something turned over in me, a shiver ran through my body. It's like sexual satisfaction. Especially when you see how blood squirts. Better than an orgasm" . She got the experience of happiness turned inside out by killing a girl only five years older than herself, actress Sharon Tate, who was preparing to give birth to her first child together with director Roman Polanski the other day. She begged for her life.

"Listen to me, bitch, I don't care about you. I don't care if you have a baby or not. Better get ready. Now you're going to die, and it doesn't make me hot or cold." And so she did. “I just stuck the knife in until she stopped screaming,” she later boasted to her cellmate. "Have you ever tasted blood? Wow, that's cool! It's warm, sticky, delicious."

In addition to the beautiful Sharon, four more were brutally murdered in her house that night. The haste changed the original plan of the killers to cut out the eyes of all the victims and smear them on the walls, as well as cut off the fingers. "We were going to cut them into pieces." Personally, Susan really wanted to cut out the fetus from a pregnant victim in order to bring it to her beloved Manson: "How proud Charlie would be if I brought him a child cut out of a woman's womb." But there was only time to leave the intimidation in the form of the word PIG, written in Sharon's blood on front door.

Several psychiatrists who conducted an examination of the mental state of Susan Atkins and three other killers unanimously announced the sanity of the defendants. That is, there was no affect, clouding of consciousness, there was a purposeful, planned action. Manson ruled the sect and all members of the "Family" unquestioningly obeyed him - it was he who sent them that night to a known address. But this does not change the fact that Susan and her accomplices were not just weak-willed performers - they really enjoyed the fact that they killed.

The next night, the company killed the LaBianca couple in a similar way. Here, there was enough time to inflict a total of sixty-seven stabs, carve the word WAR on the spouse’s stomach and leave a fork stuck in his body, and the same knife that was used to kill him in his throat. Both spouses were also strangled with lamp wires.

At first, the police did not connect the two incidents in any way, despite the obvious similarity of the killers' handwriting, both literally and figuratively. But Los Angeles reacted immediately. Fear gripped the entire city. In two days, gun shops that usually sell three or four a day sold up to two hundred firearms. "Guard dogs that used to cost $200 were now selling for $1500; they were all sold out soon." The city hastily left the stars. "Frank Sinatra left in a hurry to an unknown destination. Mia Farrow will not come to the funeral of her friend Sharon, because she is afraid of being next."

In addition to the Tate-Labianca case - which is how it became known to the whole world - several other murders committed by the "Family" were solved. But not all. In the words of Susan Atkins, "there are more... and more... three more we laid down in the desert... Already there are eleven murders that they will never solve. And there will be more." Which turned out to be true. Thirty-five to forty murders are owned or attributed to The Family, some of them still unsolved.

Charles Manson - High priest"Families", and at the same time the singer who failed at that time (now his works are quite popular), consisted of a strange brew that included Scientology, the teachings of the church Doomsday, who preached immediate and extremely cruel Armageddon, the Revelation of St. John the Evangelist, racism, Hitler worship, the occult, regular LSD intake, as well as the Beatles and the obsession that the four encrypted in their White Album personal messages for Charlie, calling him to action. Later, psychiatrists still diagnosed him with paranoid schizophrenia and transferred him to a prison for "problem prisoners." With the transfer, he lost all his privileges due to his special "hostility and militancy".

Of the 35 years that Manson lived by the time of his arrest in the Tate-Labianca case, he spent half in prisons and colonies. Upon sentencing, he told his chief prosecutor, Deputy District Attorney Vincent Bugliosi, "You let me go home. Prison has always been my home." It's true. In 1967, Manson pleaded with the authorities not to release him. If this had been done, about forty people would have survived.

In the ten years that Sharon has been in the film business, she has not been able to achieve the fame and success that came to her just three days after her death. Newspapers, television, radio all screamed about her, remembering her journey from the age of six months, when she was named Miss Dallas Baby. Cinemas re-released her few non-starring films nationally, but her name was now number one in the credits. She became a star.

Sharon with husband Roman Polanski

“She was so sweet, so gentle that I just couldn’t believe my luck. I had a disgusting experience, and I no longer believed that people like her still exist somewhere; I had to wait a long time until she showed her feelings If I live at least a hundred years, I won’t meet such a person,” Polanski said during interrogation.

Sharon's father, Colonel Paul Tate, said after the death sentences: "That's exactly what we wanted. We don't feel joy. Justice was just done. Naturally, I wanted these people to be punished. They took my daughter and grandson from me."

Killed by Sharon Tate and Jay Sebring, friend of Sharon and Roman.
Cause of death Sharon: multiple knife wounds chest and back, which hit the heart, lungs and liver, causing profuse bleeding. The victim received sixteen stab wounds, five of which could have been fatal on their own.
Jay's cause of death: blood loss, the victim literally bled out. Sebring received seven stab wounds and one gunshot, and three of the stab wounds (as well as the gunshot) themselves could be fatal.

Polanski is at his home for the first time since the murder. August 17, 1969 Traces of the word PIG are clearly visible on the door. Later, the mansion was bought by the founder of the Nine Inch Nails group, Trent Reznor, literally for a penny. "It just smells like blood in here," he laughs.

Susan Atkins

A strange turn of history occurred when, in 1972, about a year after the sentence was passed, the death penalty was abolished in California. All participants sentenced to death in the gas chamber were commuted to life imprisonment. When Manson heard the news, he broke into a wide smile. Under the law of this state, a person sentenced to such a measure of punishment has the right to ask for pardon after seven years have passed. What he used from time to time. He was repeatedly denied. This year there are regular hearings, but there is faith in the mind of those who are in charge of this. And Atkins must have already met Sharon.

All first person revelations are taken from W. Bugliosi's book Helter Skelter: The Truth About Charlie Manson.

It is interesting to observe the development of a religious personality in vivid examples of extreme sociopathy. Take for example one of Charlie's Angels named "Sadie" (Susan Atkins).

She was the same girl who proudly told the investigation in detail about how she cut people for Charlie. Then years passed in prison. And here is a new interview - a completely different person. It would seem... However, if you carefully listen to what she says, there is one detail in her speech that has remained unchanged over the years of "rethinking" her ethics. Namely, that's what.

In those years when Susan, while still a young girl, was captured by the police - she proudly talked about her "exploits", explaining her actions by devotion to Charlie. All people were insignificant to her, all except God-Charlie. She didn't care what they felt, or what they thought, or their attitude towards her, or their relationship with each other. The only thing that mattered to her was what Charlie would tell her, how he would take the news of what she had done for him. We keep this fragment in mind.

Several years pass in prison. We are seeing a "completely reborn" personality of Susan who now says the following. When asked about how she treats people who still condemn her act and are not ready to forgive her, she answers the following. She says that they do not matter to her because she is not preparing to meet them, but God. What has changed over the years?

In my opinion - nothing. People were as insignificant with their stupid, insignificant thoughts, problems, feelings and grievances. Only HE was significant. Someone Susan is preparing to meet and answer to. It is in front of him that she is ready to earn points for herself by doing something that, in her opinion, HE wants from her. The only difference is that someone else took Charlie's place. Someone who wants something different from Susan, expects different actions and words. But the essence remained the same - the people around her, as they were, remained insignificant. As before, they can be neglected.

This is what a typical development looks like religious consciousness. Only the central figurant changes in it - the rest remains unchanged.

An interesting addition to this picture is the opinion of God Sadie himself. When Charlie took his place, we had a unique chance to get his own opinion about their relationship. Which is rare in the sense that not every time there is a chance to ask something personally from God about what he himself thought about those who, according to them, went for him to kill people. But in this case there was such a chance. After all, Susan, calling herself by the name of Sadie (which her God Charlie called her), in all seriousness deified Charlie and was ready to do everything for him that he required. She was ready to sacrifice at least others, even herself, to him. There is nowhere to get closer to the deity.

So Charlie, in his own words, considered her nothing. So - a dumb girl who allows herself to be fucked by him and anyone he points his finger at. The body - this is how he spoke about her, later giving an interview about their relationship. Which is not surprising at all. Relationship with God religious fanatics asymmetrical. They do not expect anything from God in return. Or they wait, but allegedly later - after death. And at this stage - he is everything to them, they are nothing to him. Both sides agree on this.

As for the commands received by fanatics "From God". According to Sadie - she received the command "Kill everyone!" But her God paints a completely different picture. He claims that she did what she considered necessary itself. According to him, he only told her to do what she considers right, but the fact that it turned out to kill is already her interpretation. Charlie took no responsibility for the actions of his minions. Which in general is not news for the realities of the criminal world.

As for the religious world, people who believe that they act in the interests of God should probably take note of this. When it comes to the Court, Charlie will say that this is not what he had in mind and that it was necessary to think for yourself what you were doing.

Remember - approximately the same thing was said by Christ once. What they say think for yourself and decide for yourself, you yourself will answer - you don’t have to blame everything on him and hide behind his name. Well, at least that's how I understood his words when I read it.

That's earthly gods seems to agree with this thesis. They won't be able to absolve themselves of responsibility in their name, just as Sadie-Susan Atkins didn't.

You will have to answer for your relationships with others personally and on your own behalf. God will not help here and will not take anything upon himself.

Excerpt characterizing Atkins, Susan

“Do you think it’s me…?” Still unable to believe what had happened, I whispered dumbfounded.
- Certainly! - the little girl chirped again in a cheerful voice. “That's what you wanted, right? It is so huge and scary, though very beautiful. I would never live there! – with full confidence declared she.
And I could not forget that incredibly huge and so attractively majestic beauty, which, now I knew for sure, would forever become my dream, and the desire to return there someday would haunt me for many, many years, until, one fine day, I will not finally find my real, lost HOME ...
- Why are you sad? You've done so well! Stella exclaimed in surprise. Do you want me to show you something else?
She conspiratorially wrinkled her nose, which made her look like a cute, funny little monkey.
And again everything turned upside down, "landing" us in some crazy-bright "parrot" world ... in which thousands of birds screamed wildly and this abnormal cacophony made our heads spin.
- Ouch! - Stella laughed loudly, - not so!
And immediately there was a pleasant silence ... We were "naughty" together for a long time, now alternately creating funny, funny, fairy-tale worlds, which really turned out to be quite easy. I could not tear myself away from all this unearthly beauty and from the crystal-clear, amazing girl Stella, who carried a warm and joyful light in herself, and with whom I sincerely wanted to stay close forever ...
But real life, unfortunately, called back to “go down to Earth” and I had to say goodbye, not knowing if I would ever be able to see her again at least for a moment.
Stella looked with her large, round eyes, as if wanting and not daring to ask something ... Then I decided to help her:
- Do you want me to come again? – I asked with hidden hope.
Her funny face again shone with all shades of joy:
"Are you really coming?" she squeaked happily.
“Really, really, I’ll come ...” I firmly promised ...

Overwhelmed with everyday worries, days turned into weeks, and I still couldn't find free time to visit my cute little friend. I thought about her almost every day and swore to myself that tomorrow I would definitely find time to “take my soul away” with this wonderful bright little man for at least a couple of hours ... And also one more, very strange thought did not give me rest - very I wanted to introduce Stella's grandmother to her no less interesting and unusual grandmother... For some inexplicable reason, I was sure that both these wonderful women would certainly find something to talk about...
So, finally, one fine day, I suddenly decided that it was enough to put off everything “for tomorrow” and, although I was not at all sure that Stella’s grandmother would be there today, I decided that it would be wonderful if today I finally visit my new girlfriend, well, and if you're lucky, then I'll introduce our dear grandmothers to each other.
Some strange force was literally pushing me out of the house, as if someone from afar was very gently and, at the same time, very persistently calling me mentally.
I quietly approached my grandmother and, as usual, began to spin around her, trying to think of a better way to present all this to her.
- Well, let's go or something? .. - Grandma asked calmly.
I stared at her dumbfounded, not understanding how she could know that I was going somewhere at all ?!.
Grandmother smiled slyly and, as if nothing had happened, asked:
“What, don’t you want to walk with me?”
In my soul, indignant at such an unceremonious intrusion into my “private mental world,” I decided to “test” my grandmother.
- Well, of course I want to! I exclaimed happily, and without saying where we were going, I headed for the door.
- Take a sweater, we'll be back late - it will be cool! Grandmother shouted after her.

When the "family" was arrested, Susan confessed to participating in eight murders. She was sentenced to death, later commuted to life imprisonment. Atkins was imprisoned in a California prison for forty years without one week, until her death from cancer.

Susan Denise Atkins (May 7, 1948 – September 24, 2009) was a convicted American murderer, a member of the Manson Family, led by notorious homicidal maniac Charles Manson. Manson and his followers committed nine murders in four different places California for five weeks in the summer of 1969. Atkins, known to the family as Sadie Mae Glatz, has confirmed her involvement in eight of these murders, including the most sinister, Tate/Labianca.

Atkins was born in San Gabriel, California; She was the middle of three children. Her parents, Edward John Atkins and Janet Atkins, were, in her own words, alcoholics. Susan's mother died of cancer in 1963. For the next three years, the girl's life systematically turned into a mess with constant moving and discord in the family; it all ended with her leaving home, in an attempt to gain independence. Atkins and his family lived in San Jose, California; it was there that Susan celebrated her thirteenth birthday. Those who knew her then remember the quiet, self-absorbed girl; Atkins was in the choir at school, and after school she sang in the church choir. Two weeks before her mother was hospitalized for the last time, Atkins begged members of the choir to sing a few Christmas carols outside her windows. After the death of Janet Atkins, relatives had to look after the children.

According to a number of sources, due to the circumstances of the family plan, Susan's father continued to drink and roam the country in search of a side job; as a result, children often changed homes and schools. The father himself, however, told something completely different - about a stable house, a pleasant environment and a happy family life.

Eventually, Edward Atkins came with his family to Los Banos, California. He got a job building the San Luis Dam and provided Susan with her younger brother Stephen to himself. The girl found a job to support herself and her brother. At school in San Jose, she was an average student, but in Los Banos her grades dropped significantly. Susan and Stephen were cared for at the time by various distant relatives.

The girl's older brother, Michael, had already abandoned his family and gone to the Navy. Susan eventually left school at eighteen and moved to San Francisco, where she worked as a secretary, office clerk, and topless dancer for a living. When she was a stripper, Atkins met the founder of the Church of Satan - Anton Szandor LaVey; he hired her to play a vampire in a theatrical production. At the same time on

her troubles with the law began - for example, in 1966, Atkins was arrested on charges of illegal possession of weapons and buying stolen goods.

In 1967, Susan met Charles Manson - he played the guitar in the house where Atkins lived with friends. When the house was raided a few weeks later by a police raid and Susan lost her roof over her head, Manson invited her to join his group, which he gathered for a summer trip in a school bus repainted black. Atkins was given the pseudonym Sadie Mae Glatz. She would later claim that she believed Manson to be Jesus.

The gradually growing "Manson Family" settled on a ranch in San Fernando in Southern California. Here, on October 7, 1968, Atkins gave birth to a son; Manson named him Zezosous Zadfrak Glatz. Later, after Susan's arrest, she was deprived of parental rights; The child was given a new name and given up for adoption.

The most terrible of the murders in which Atkins took part is rightfully considered the murder of Sharon Tate and the LaBianca couple. On August 8, 1969, Manson sent some of the members of the group along with Charles Watson. The purpose of the trip was murder and robbery. The first blow was dealt in Beverly Hills, at the home of renowned director Roman Polanski. Polanski himself was in Europe filming; his wife Sharon, who was in her eighth month of pregnancy, and four of their friends remained in the house. Atkins and his associates brutally dealt with all five; before leaving, Susan wrote "POG" on the front door in Sharon's blood.

Manson was dissatisfied with the actions of his subordinates - he considered them too sloppy and decided to arrange a master class in person. The victims were grocery store owner Leno LaBianca and his wife Rosemary. Manson and Watson tied the couple up, claiming they only wanted to rob them. Manson left the premises and sent his assistants there. On the same day, the gang went hunting for an actor named Saladin Nader who lived somewhere in the vicinity. However, Atkins and her friends did not cope with this task.

When the "family" was arrested, Susan confessed to participating in eight murders. She was sentenced to death, later commuted to life imprisonment. Atkins was imprisoned in a California prison for forty years without one week, until her death from cancer. Eighteen times she asked for early bail and was denied eighteen times. Susan holds the record for the most time served by a woman in the history of the California penitentiary system.
