Great Secrets: Nostradamus. Great Secrets

The Renaissance destroyed the feudal-serf dependence of the Middle Ages. It laid the foundation for the rapid development of sciences, crafts and art. The Renaissance, which began in Italy, quickly spread throughout Europe. Until now, many people know the works of such Renaissance authors as Rabelais, Cervantes, Petrarch, Shakespeare. In their works, they represented man as the highest creation of nature, revealed the richness of his mind and soul.

The famous soothsayer, astrologer and prophet Michel Nostradamus also lived and worked during the Renaissance. The prophecies of Nostradamus haunt many generations. Until now, no one can accurately answer how he managed to predict the events of the distant future.

In 1791, the inhabitants of the small town of Salon (France, Provence) decided to rebury the remains of the great prophet. For more than two centuries, he rested like a statue, in a standing position in the wall of the Franciscan monastery. It is a remarkable fact that after the tomb was opened, everyone saw an amulet with the date 1791 written on it on the neck of the skeleton. It should be noted that such a burial is not accepted in Christianity.

Why did Nostradamus order to wall himself up in a wall? Perhaps this is because Nostradamus identified himself with the teraphim. It was the teraphim who were placed in the walls of the temples in order to offer prayers to them and sacrifices were made, in response they expected prophecies from them. Of course, it was not the literal prophecy of the Theraphim that was meant. According to belief, the terophim attracted prophetic spirits to themselves and the immured terophim could hear their whisper. From this came such an expression as "the whisper of a terophim." It is known that the prophet himself did not use the services of a teraphim.

After the death of Nostradamus, the predictions of the prophet began to be interpreted by his student and follower Jean-Aimé de Chavigny, who is, moreover, the mayor of the city of Beaune. In 1564, he published his book, where he analyzed the "already fulfilled" prophecies of Nostradamus. A significant part of them concerned the life of Henry of Navarre, who became the king of brilliant France.

The quatrains of Nostradamus excited the minds of people during the lifetime of the prophet. For them, he became a real teraph.

Here is how Nostradamus himself wrote about how he received information for the prophecy: “I am sitting alone in my secret office, my head is resting on a bronze tripod. A light glow is in the room, and I hear predictions. Wand in hand points to the interweaving of branches, waves wash over my feet, and I write, trembling with fear. The deity itself is next to me…”.

It is unlikely that this ritual can be attributed to astrological, most likely, Nostradamus is more correctly considered a magician using astrological methods. So, famous magicians of that time were Lull, Agrippa, Villanova, Paracelsus. Known for their work related to the field of occultism. But, these works are theoretical calculations, but Nostradamus was a practitioner who widely uses the theory developed by them in his work.

The name Nostradamus is derived from the Latin spelling of Michel de Notre Dame, who was born into a Jewish family in December 1503. He spent his childhood in the small southern French town of Saint-Remy. He was born on the eve of Catholic Christmas, this is also the time of the solstice. Michel's grandfather was the personal physician of the son of the King of Naples - the heir to the Merovingian family (belonging to the family of David). There is an assumption that since the relatives of Nostradamus served the descendants of King David, some kind of mystical connection between them is possible. Michel grew up in a family as a beloved child, to whom loving grandfathers passed on their knowledge. It was under their supervision that he mastered Latin, Hebrew and Greek, mathematics, and astrology. Then the parents sent Michel to study in the former papal residence - the city of Avignon, which was considered the best center for teaching humanitarian subjects. After completing his studies in Avignon, the 19-year-old boy entered the University of Montpellier, the most famous European medical center. In 1525, having received a degree, he acquired the right to practice medicine. The very first test in the field of a doctor for Michel was the plague epidemic. There he distinguished himself by using non-standard methods of treatment. So, instead of clysters and bloodletting, which were then widely practiced, Michel often turned to herbs and magical methods.

Nostradamus traveled a lot around the country, treated people, attended lectures by famous alchemists, worked in the papal library, read many works on the occult sciences, medicine and magic. His happy family life, with his beloved wife, son and daughter, was destroyed by the plague epidemic, which took away his wife and children. The fact that the doctor failed to save his relatives reduced the confidence in Nostradamus of numerous patients. In addition, the Inquisition became interested in them. The future prophet had to leave his native France and wander around the countries of Europe for many years.

The very first prophecy of Michel Nostradamus is considered a prediction foreshadowing the death of King Henry II from an eye injury:
"The young lion will defeat the old
In a strange duel in a military field.
He will pierce his eye through a golden cage:
One becomes two, then dies
Painful death".

The prophecy was fulfilled two years later. A jousting tournament was arranged in honor of the wedding of the king's daughter. Henry II decided to take part in the tournament and challenged the young Earl of Montgomery to a contest. In a skirmish, Montgomery's spear pierced the king's helmet, a splinter hurt his eye. A few days later, the king died from his injuries.

Many predictions of Nostradamus came true. For example, the fact that Henri Bourbon will sit on the French throne. And this happened in 1594. The prophet saw the future pope in an ordinary monk and, indeed, in 1585 the monk Felice Peretti, taking the name Sixtus V, became the head of the Roman church. For Nostradamus himself, his prophecy about the execution of the French king and queen was a terrible and terrible supposed event:
“At night he will come through the Rhine forest by detours.
There will be two going through. one of them is a queen, a white stone,
The other is a monk-king in grey, in Varenna
Chosen Capet causes storm, fire and massacre.
(Century IX, Quatrain 20)

Two hundred years after this prophecy, King Louis XVI and Queen Marie Antoinette were executed.

It is believed that in his quatrains the great prophet described the coming to the throne of Russia of the Romanov dynasty. And the fact that England will become a great sea power. Nostradamus foresaw the discovery of a new planet - Neptune and much more.

1564 was the year of the triumph of Nostradamus, his fame reached its peak. When visiting him by the future king of France, fourteen-year-old Charles IX and his mother Catherine de Medici, Nostradamus announced that Queen Elizabeth of England would become Charles's wife. However, as time has shown, this prediction did not come true. Here is what the Spanish ambassador wrote about this visit:
"The queen said to me, 'You know, Nostradamus claims that in 1566 there will be general peace throughout the world, and France will be at peace and her position will be strengthened.' And as she said this, she looked as confident as if she were quoting the Gospel of St. John or St. Luke.”

But, unfortunately, everything did not happen as Nostradamus expected - religious wars tore France apart for three long decades.

When the royal family visited Nostradamus, little Henry of Bourbon, King of Navarre, was with them. The Prophet became very interested in this child. “He asked the tutor Henry of Navarre to show him to him. The next morning, during the dressing ceremony, when the prince was standing naked, Nostradamus was brought into the room. And while the prince was being given a shirt, he looked at him for a long time, and then said that he (the prince) would receive the entire inheritance and “If God will show you (teacher) mercy and you live so long, your master will be the king of France and Navarre ". What seemed unbelievable then has happened today. Since then, the king has repeatedly retold this prophecy, even to the queen, adding jokingly that he was not given a shirt for a long time so that Nostradamus could examine him slowly, and he (Heinrich) was even afraid that they were going to flog him.

After meeting with the royal court, Nostradamus lived for only two years. On the marble slab of the tomb of the great prophet is carved: "Here lie the bones of the famous Michel Nostradamus, the only one of all mortals who was worthy to capture with his almost divine pen, thanks to the influence of the stars, the future events of the whole world."

The well-known Michel Nostradamus lived during the Renaissance - 1503-1566. He is called the great prophet and astrologer.

Although he did not leave any works and theories on astrology, he is considered the best astrologer, everyone knows the predictions of Nostradamus. What kind of astrology did Nostradamus belong to and what legacy did he leave behind? The prophecies of Nostradamus still excite the minds of mankind.

Let's start the story not from the birth of Nostradamus, but from 1791.

This year, the inhabitants of the city of Salon, located in Provence, decided to rebury the remains of Nostradamus. For over two centuries, his remains rested as he himself wished - in a standing position in the form of a statue, standing in the wall of the Franciscan church in the center of the city.

When the tomb was opened, an amulet hung around the neck of the skeleton, on which the date 1791 was written.

What an unusual burial, completely unlike the Christian one.

Why did Nostradamus bequeathed to wall himself up standing in a statue built into the wall?

Perhaps because he saw himself as a phoenix or a speaking and prophesying teraphim. Since it was teraphs who were placed in the walls of temples, where sacrifices were made to them, incense was burned. Then they expected prophecies from them.

But this is not to be taken literally, that they issued prophecies. Most likely, they attracted prophetic spirits to themselves, with the help of which a living follower of a soothsayer-teraph immured and placed against the wall could hear their whisper. This is where the expression "whisper of a teraphim" comes from.

Judging from the description of the life of Nostradamus, he himself did not use the services of a teraphim and did not even have one. But after his death, his work was immediately continued, his faithful follower and student Jean-Aimé de Chavigny, the mayor of the city of Beaune, began to interpret his predictions. He even gave up this position and a promising career for the sake of listening to the whispers of a teraphim.

In the book "The First Face of the French Janus", published in 1564, Jean-Aimé de Chavigny systematized the "already come true" predictions of Nostradamus, building them into a historical chain from 1556 to 1589. He tied a significant part of them to the deeds of Henry of Navarre, who by this time had become the king of France. He attributed a large number of unfulfilled predictions to him, but with the proviso that all this, they say, would come true if Henry, who had just converted to Catholicism, did not fall into heresy again.

Thus, the case of Nostradamus continued for many centuries, Kabbalists spoke of him with special admiration. And this is understandable, because with his talent and efforts during his lifetime he reached the pinnacle of prophetic art, and after his death he became a teraphim, which Kabbalists had not had for a long time, and whom they were looking forward to.

What is the effort by which Nostradamus received his prophecies?

Let us turn to his direct notes, in which he writes: “I am sitting alone in my secret office, my head resting on a bronze tripod. A light glow is in the room, and I hear predictions. Wand in hand points to the interweaving of branches, waves wash over my feet, and I write, trembling with fear. The deity itself is next to me…”.

Think about it, dear readers! Is it possible to connect this ritual with astrology. Of course, you can’t, but you can only point to the astrological timing of this ritual. Therefore, Nostradamus was, most likely, a magician who used astrological data in his operations, but not the very essence of astrology.

The above passage indicates that Michel Nostradamus performed a Kabbalistic ritual of invoking Geniuses or spirits that control a specific period of time.

In this era, many Kabbalists engaged in a similar ritual, and each Genius or spirit combined with their nature appeared. Nostradamus at that time was no exception.

For example, a famous magician at that time was Agrippa, Dr. Faust, Lull, Paracelsus, Villanova and others. Moreover, all of them left behind many works on the theory of the occult. This means that Nostradamus was not a theoretician, but was a practitioner who used an already developed theory.

How did Nostradamus differ and stand out among many followers of Kabbalah?

Let's start the search for an answer with the biography of Nostradamus.

Nostradamus is the Latin form of the surname of Michel de Notre Dame, who was born on December 23, 1503 into a Jewish family. The small town of Saint-Remy where Nostradamus was born is located in the south of France.

This means that he was born on the eve of the Christian Catholic Christmas, which could have a symbolic meaning. Since at this time the winter solstice occurs, after which nature comes to life.

Michel's maternal grandfather Jean de Saint-Remy was a physician to Rene the Good (1434-1480), Duke of Anjou and Lorraine, Count of Provence and Piedmont, who also bore the titles of King of Naples, Sicily and Jerusalem.

Michel's paternal grandfather Pierre de Notre Dame was also the physician to René the Good's son, Jean, Duke of Calabria, and his father, René the Good.

The mentioned Rene the Good, who bore the title of King of Naples, Sicily and Jerusalem, was obviously a descendant of the Merovingian family - the blood heirs of the royal dynasty of the Jewish family of David.

The title of Jerusalem meant that his ancestor was on the first crusade, where the Templars built a castle on the site of the destroyed temple of Solomon, and the representative of the Merovingians was proclaimed king of Jerusalem.

This means that the ancestors of Nostradamus served the descendants of David and were obviously connected with them in a special way.

Perhaps there was an oath and subordination between them. Therefore, the presence of two doctors in one post did not lead, as often happens, to rivalry. On the contrary, both doctors became close friends, and after the death of René the Good, they decided to settle in the same city and subsequently marry their children. And so it happened.

Michel grew up in a large friendly family, cared for by both parents and both grandfathers, each of whom sought to pass on his knowledge to his grandson.

Grandfather Jean taught him the basics of mathematics, Latin, Greek and Hebrew, and astrology.

After Jean's death, Michel's grandfather Pierre continued to take care of Michel's home education.

And then the parents sent their son to study in Avignon, the recent papal capital, which has now become the center of humanitarian learning.

In 1522, having completed his studies in Avignon, the 19-year-old Michel entered the University of Montpellier, one of the most famous medical centers in Europe. In 1525 he received a bachelor's degree and with it the right to independent medical practice.

Just in this year, an epidemic of plague broke out in southern France. Michel passed this first test as a doctor successfully. He not only showed extraordinary courage in fulfilling his duty, but also began to stand out among other doctors with the use of non-standard means of treatment.

Instead of bloodletting and clysters for any reason, then accepted in medical practice, he turns to magical remedies and herbs.

Nostradamus did not stay long in one place. He wandered and treated the sick in the countryside of Provence, then he went to the city of Narbonne and attended lectures by famous alchemists there (at that time, medicine and alchemy, as a rule, were practiced by the same people). From there he travels to Carcassonne, then to Toulouse. From Toulouse - to Bordeaux, where a particularly contagious form of plague raged - the bubonic plague. From Bordeaux to the city of his youth, Avignon. Here he worked in the rich papal library on works on magic and the occult sciences and at the same time continued to deepen his knowledge of pharmacy.

In the autumn of 1529, enriched by practice and expanding his theoretical knowledge, Nostradamus returned to Montpellier to defend his doctoral dissertation.

In 1534 he received a letter from Jules Caesar Scaliger with an invitation to move to the city of Agen. Here he married and had a son and a daughter. But three years later, a plague epidemic claimed his wife and children. The doctor who saved so many lives could not save his loved ones. This immediately undermined the authority of Nostradamus in patients.

In addition, he had a break with Scaliger. And - trouble does not come alone - in 1538 Nostradamus received an official order to appear before the inquisitor of Toulouse, to answer for free-thinking speeches.

Nostradamus chose to avoid this visit. He left not only Agen, but in general the territory of the French kingdom. For six years he hid from the Inquisition and wandered around Lorraine, the Netherlands, Italy (from Venice to Sicily).

In October 1564, the fame of Nostradamus reached its peak.

Fourteen-year-old King Charles IX arrived at the Salon, traveling through the south of the country, accompanied by the regent mother Catherine de Medici and a huge retinue.

The highlight of the visit to the town was a meeting with Nostradamus.

Here is what is said about this meeting in the report of the Spanish ambassador, Francis de Alava, which, apparently, caused a considerable stir at the court of Philip II.

"Nostradamus at the reception announced to Queen Catherine and Charles IX that he would marry Queen Elizabeth of England."

This was a disturbing message for Spain, because such a marriage would entail an anti-Spanish alliance between France and England. However, this prediction did not come true.

Such, apparently, is the fate of all clear and precise predictions of Nostradamus. But the Spanish ambassador did not know about this and continued to write about the soothsayer from the Salon with great irritation.

“In order for Your Majesty to be convinced of how gullible people are here,” he reported in the next report to Philip II, “I will say that the queen (Catherine de Medici), when she passed through the city where Nostradamus lived, called him to her and gave him 200 ecu. She told him to cast a horoscope for the king and queen.

And since he is the most diplomatic person in the world and never says anything that can upset anyone, he decided in these two horoscopes to flatter the king and queen. So much so that they ordered him to follow their court, treating him like a king, until they separated and parted from him at Arles.

The Queen told me today in response to my words that I hope a great good will come from a future meeting (with her daughter Elizabeth, Queen of Spain), “You know,” she said, “Nostradamus claims that in 1566 all over the world general peace will come, and France will be at peace, and her position will be strengthened.

And as she said this, she looked as confident as if she were quoting the Gospel of St. John or St. Luke.”

And this prediction of Nostradamus turned out to be extremely far from reality. In 1566, the religious wars that torn apart France did not end at all. They continued for another three decades. And world peace remained a matter of the indefinitely distant future.

By the time of the visit of the royal court to the Salon (October 18, 1566), another prediction of Nostradamus is attributed, which exactly came true, despite the extremely low probability of its implementation.

Together with Charles IX and Catherine de Medici, the young Henry of Bourbon, King of Navarre, a distant relative of the ruling Valois dynasty, arrived at the Salon. Nostradamus showed great interest in this child.

The chances of Henry of Navarre to survive the three sons of Catherine de Medici who were alive in 1564 and their potential offspring, indeed, were negligible. And if this prediction were recorded in documents of that time (say, in the dispatches of ambassadors) or in any handwritten or printed memoirs created before the accession of Henry of Navarre to the throne of France, this fact could greatly strengthen the reputation of Nostradamus as a prophet.

But, alas, even in the most detailed description of the visit of the royal court to the Salon, compiled by the son of Nostradamus, Caesar de Notre Dame, there is not a word about this episode. But Caesar wrote his memoirs about his father just during the reign of Henry IV, when it would be more than appropriate to recall the glorious prediction.

They could also be kept secret because the Merovingian family was interested in a king who would come from the south of France, and who could be close to this family.

Perhaps at that time this information should have been hidden. Especially if we recall the Bartholomew night arranged by Queen Margot for the Huguenots, adherents and close associates of the mentioned king.

Nostradamus, after visiting the royal court of Salon, lived for about two more years. He died on July 2, 1566, as recorded from the effects of gout.

But one does not die from this disease, most likely, he could not move due to Parkinson's disease, which leads to death. And this is a genetic disease that is inherited.

Nostradamus was buried in the church of the Franciscan monastery. An inscription was carved on a marble slab above his grave: “Here lie the bones of the famous Michel Nostradamus, the only one of all mortals who was worthy to capture with his almost divine pen, thanks to the influence of the stars, the future events of the whole world.”

What future events, thanks to the influence of the stars, captured the divine pen of Nostradamus?

The most recent prophecy of Nostradamus concerns 1999, when a solar eclipse was observed in Europe in August.

His words that the king of horrors will descend from heaven indicate that his faith in God was fundamentally different from Christianity.

Can a king of horrors descend from heaven, a Divine sign or punishment descends from heaven.

According to Christian teaching, the king of horrors can come out of the sea, from the deep gorges of the earth, but not from the sky.

For example, in the Revelation of John, God hid the beast, the destroyer of human souls, deep underground.

It becomes obvious that the predictions of Nostradamus were not intended for Christians and do not concern all of humanity.

Most likely, they serve as a prediction for Kabbalists, and can be perceived by them in a language they understand.
